Had a client ask me if i can de oderise some furniture in some student flats as they smell 'fousy' (think she means a mixture of smokey and just generaly smelly-though the student did have terrapins). She said there general cleaner has used usual polish and sprays (not sure exactly what) but still smells.
Ideas ne one please.

Hi
Odour is caused by bacteria, the bacteria needs to be eliminate.
You can use Microsan, sprayed or fogged (please wear a mask/respirator).

They probably need cleaning rather than just a topical treatment. Fogging will kill the bacteria and mould which like Martin says will be causing the odour. But once the products disperses or becomes unefective the dirt is still going to be there for new bacteria to feed on. Ther is no substitute for cleaning if you want long term results.

Hi
Jason yes it will, depends what the client wants, educate them that the fibres need cleaning to get rid of dirt & bacteria that is breeding.
Offer to clean it for them if you have the equipment, or say that you can spray it but the bacteria will return after a time if they continue to smoke their cigs or ganja.
I did a student let last year (didn't have a fogger then) took me 3 days to get rid of the 'skunk' smell!
Talk to the client but also educate them as to what can be achieved.
Good luck
