How do you guys motivate yourselves when things are not going too great and you feel a little low with regards to your business?

Thanks Tosh, got a week booked next month down in Cornwall.
Just been getting a little down lately as I'm not getting many new custys. been dropping flyers off almost everyday, just 200 at a time so near enough 1,000 per week. I havent the confidence to just go out door knocking, so flyers and local paper are the only forms of advertising I'm using.

Talk to customers and book a few jobs for the morning. If I've said I'll be there, I wouldn't let them down no matter what,.. and once I've been out working a while I normally perk up a bit.

Not that I'd promote calling the night before as part of normal practice,.. but for motivation its a winner,.. for me anyway.

Take time out from work to recharge your batteries. Short break is often enough to get the motivation back. Pay a visit to the job centre for a reality check, helps remind you how fortunate you are.

I was like this a couple of months ago matey. Im on it again now and feel fine again. Do you have a hobby or anything?

Ive applied to become retained firefighter and am working towards that, been getting fit and attending a couple of there training sessions and its built me up.

Like everyone else says, go enjoy your holiday chin up. Ive chilled out a bit with my work now, i have £x amount i want to earn a day if i do that before 12 o clock im a happy man and then i can just plod. Get some music mp3 sorta thing going, i have my phone on me with loads of tracks on with prodigy pumping in my ears  ;D gets me going.

Someone offered me £8 ahour the other day to do a pressure washing job to which i smiled at then realised this is what most people are getting that these days, we can do a £8 house in 5 - 10 mins.  ;)

you wouldn't be human mate if you didn't have the odd feeling of lack lustre,  but just tell yourself why you decided to become a window cleaner and the benefits  of being your own boss with you own client base.

everyone sees the gray picture from time to time but just step back a little and the elephant soon comes into focus if you know what I mean

Hi answer these looking at your self in the mirror.
1. Do you have good health?
2. Do you have work to go to to-morrow?
3. Have you a loving wife and kids?
4. Do you know that you have the power to expand your round any time you like by calling next door to houses were you clean? Just smile and be polite, its works and is that easy!
5. Do you thing you have the power to change your frame of mind? Just try and be positive.
I think if you can answer most of these with a yes then you just need to chanel negs into positives, but you may just need a break!
Mart.
