Title: Advice needed regarding car wash/valeting
Post by: kordun on July 07, 2009, 09:43:00 pm
Hello everyone

Advice needed regarding car wash/valeting

I have been doing mobile car valeting for some time now, and recently i started valeting in one golf club. This is now doing well and they offered me that place on permanent bases,7 days a week.
There is enough work for 2 valeters and for weekends possible 3. As you may know turnover for car wash is not great, but main concern is what do you do if its raining and you can not wash any cars, and you don’t make any money. Do you still pay your staff?

My dilemma is do i employ people to be self employed or employed by me. I’m asking this because, for example if its raining they will not wash any cars on that day and i cant pay them as they didn’t make any money. If employed by me i will need to pay?

Another question, in the winter months December, January, February when is really cold how many days can i actually work in car wash. Those months are cold, rainy and probably you need to close car wash for weeks but still need to pay rent to landlords. How/what do you negotiate with land lords?

Does anybody runs same business and what do you do with your staff?

Many thanks
