think its time to get a sebo duo for me (just for atitation), just wondering are these worth the money and do they atitate thoroughly. i know just about everyone has one but are they really that good?.
is there anything new on the market now round the same price?
might be a stupid question but are they electric because everywhere av read up on them it doesn't say.
cheers ralph

i had one when first started out and yes they are ok fine in most cases. i upgraded to the envirodri which i think is brilliant but we are talking a lot more money. still carry the duo and use now and again when dont want to lug the envirodri about if not nessasary. the key with any of these machines is too realise they are not meant for pre spray agitation but i would say more use them for this purpose than not. maintain them well clean after each job and they will be fine.
-
yeah i would only be using this for agititation, aren't the envirodri's about £1800 to expensive for just agitation plus are these not used more along side a truck mount and commercial work.
i have a porty extracta excel with scrubba thats enough for me to get in a house lol.
cheers ralph

£20 for a carpet brush does it for me.
That and a bit of muscle agitates fine.

envirodri new are between 900-1000 you never see many sc h ones around funny that. now and again envirodri have recon ones ring them direct.

Never had Sebo Duo.
Got the Envirodri, yes expensive but should last you years and years.
As already said - get a dedicated carpet brush about £20 (not your common yard brush)
Even tho I have an Envirodri, lots of jobs I just use the brush.
-
Had my previous Sebo Duo 2.5 years and was still working perfectly well when sold with other equipment recently. Now got a new one and think they are a great light weight agitator and cheaper alternative to the Envirodri, although from other comments not quite as good.
As Richard says clean & maintain regularly, do mine after every clean and it will last.

cheers for reply where can i get a perky carpet groom from and also is the sebo duo electric.
cheers ralph

Yes mate sebo is on tricity and there is a firm called Vicol in Letchworth that has an offer on them at the moment for about £200.00 delivered, next day I believe.

I have two of these linked toghether with a "dopple" about £90 quid
Fantastic bit of kit and only takes about 10 mins to take apart and wash brushes.
all clips apartand has trays on the bottom
dopple is from sebo direct
-
should i add to that 10 mins to take apart and put back together
-
Chris - do you mean 10 mins to actually take each machine apart or just to remove the dopple and clean? I normally just run the machine and use the spotting brush it comes with to remove loose carpet fibres but there may be a better way?

You'll be there a looooooooong time on a big commercial job using a duo :o forget that idea in my opinion, it's useless on commercial carpets anyway.
You'll need a bigger machine like envirodri or host if you want a crb machine for that sort of work. I use a rotary with polyprop brush, either 15" or 19" depending on how much room there is to swing it round in. The rotary is more versatile than a crb, in that you can use it also for bonnet cleaning and floor scrubbing too.
The duo is brilliant when you want more agitation than you can get from a hand broom, but dragging a rotary or big crb machine upstairs etc is too much hassle.
You can keep the duo clean without taking it apart! After you finish with it, start your extraction machine, turn on the duo and stick it upside down. Use the hose cuff from your machine to clean all the crud away, pushing it firmly along the brushes until the crud stops flying off. Takes about 60 secs and leaves no mess cos you suck up all the bits :)

Thanks for that jim!
I never thought of cleaning it that way, i turn it over and use car windscreen scraper to get the muck out but its well messy!

Jim, what about the oreck orbitor... too small for commercial work?
-
Forget the oreck, you need a rotary for large areas unless you plan to be there until Xmas.

I keep thinking of selling mine
Shaun
Start planning for it ;)

Are the Victor Sprite 400's suitable for agitation, and if so, which pads are suitable for low profile carpet agitation?
-
Perfect machine providing the speed is around the 180 rotations a minute as there are a lot of high speed. Bonnets are the best for carpets as well as polypropolene/nylon brushes but make sure it's a soft one as they do them for hard floors.

Sebo Duo always wanted 1 till I played with 1 , waste of time imo , not heavy enough for the job your talking about.
Rotary all the way , mess with red/blue pads . many many uses with the old rotary go for a twin speed
-
Try a black pad on flotex
For good training try getting on top of your lass and call her by another name and see if you can hang on about the same torque ;D

Simon - no probs :)
Colin - never used an orbiter, although would be interested to have a go on one for comparison. I'd take a guess it would be a bit more heavy duty than a duo but not as good as a 15" roto. Even a 15" machine can be slow going on big areas, the 19 is better but can be a bit of a beast to hang on to, like Shaun'e mrs so I hear :D (incidentally there's a variation on that known as fat girl rodeo but we'd best not go into that on here :))

Great tip for cleaning it Jim, upto now I wait till I get home run it upside side with a wire brush lightly over the brushes, much prefer the idea of your way.
Although I am more than happy with them I have to say I do mainly do domestic's where the Sebo is ideal for. I do have 2 x rotaries that I use for bigger areas/commercial.
