Title: NVQ2 in window cleaning?
Post by: mr D on July 02, 2009, 09:39:58 pm
Got an email from these lot the other day.

http://www.training43.com/

Is this for real? I cant belive any maintenance or facilities manager would ask if you have an NVQ2 in WC when tendering for a job.

Yes it would give you a certificate to say you have done a working at heights course and are all health and safety wise but you can do the relevant courses at the local collage.

Has any one done this course or have any info on it. Am I missing some thing? I suppose its a good idea that top quality WC's get a form of recognition but I don't think its a great idea that its a you pay you gain set up.

Ive done it for free, been good as a add on too quotes

It all depends how you wanna market it bud, if you dont wanna do it, dont

But if you wanna do it, and market it right you can make the most of it

Id rather get all i can behind me, and hopefully if my price is similar to yours in a tender, whats gonna swing it?? A full cv of courses etc is better next to one with none!

Just my 2 p's worth and opinion on it.... it seems many of the serious lads are doing it, not that your not if you dont , but it says something that most are thinking about it/ doing it

Its especially handy if you have staff

I suppose your right.

Maybe I'm not totally sold because I try to avoid commercial work at the moment.

If I take my mind back to when I worked with my old man I can think of loads of times it would of been a god send to have a certificate to prove we new more than the numpties on the offices pushing pens about working at height and health n safety.

how did you get to do it for free? government funding?

When I did my tile training I got an NVQ2 on the 'train to gain' scheme. was it something like that?

Yes its similar to that train to gain course.
It would be worth it as the course doesnt just cover working at heights and health and safety but customer relations, customer care, communicating at different levels, business studies etc.

2/3 days in a classroom over a couple months, and then they come out and assess you working :)

Ive leaened alot about things id otherwise find it hard to know ie cradles etc as the guy who does it works as a h and s  consultant for some of the biggest buildings in uk

plus he has worked in the industrty for some time and its great to pick his head for a few hours :)
