You've guessed it, I've been leafletting again.
-
;D
I take it that this is a threat, probably delivered over the telephone?
I think it would be time to phone the police if you've not already done so.
-
whats this?????
-
you leafletting in Afghanistan again??
-
Dave...do as per Tosh's advice then at least there is a log number incase you do find this fool.
Cheers
Dave.
-
Yeah I'd make a call to the police too. Guessing it was off a witheld number
-
can someone explain to me what reporting it to the police will do if you have no details or any idea who it was?
Ive no experience with this type of thing.
-
Threats to kill is a criminal offense, they will contact the phone company and get the details of the caller. Maybe even a recording of the phone call. Then they'll prosecute him/her.
-
BT can trace withheld numbers that are being called from this country, they cant trace calls coming from overseas. right down the area that you dropped leaflets off and that will be a start for the police. also if they used a mobile phone the network operator can find out which mast it was coming from at that time. its called "pinging"
I would certainly report the offence to the police though, as if anything happens the police have the initial report to strengthen any case.
-
drwindows they cant get a recording of the call!
becuase to have a recording of a phone call without the consent of either party, they would need a court order to "tap" the phone. this has only been used in a few cases.
-
I had this before and the police did bot bugger all. The didn't even log it as a crime.
I spoke to the guy last night at 10pm. At 11.30 he rang again but I missed the call. I rang it back this morning and spoke to a different guy who said he had lent the phone to his mate in the pub last night.
I have the number, they didn't even bother to hide it.
-
I'd love to but I don't want to escalate the problem right now.
-
Whats the number, we can all call him up and tell him we 'gonna pop a cap in his ass' ;D
it's always the donkey that pays the price :'( :'( :'(

david, where are you based? you in my neck of the woods aint you?
-
the police will have a way of getting the number. BT will have a log system even tho it comes up at your end of the phone as no number. My daughter had a few prank calls and we had it reported and checked, police found out who it was in a matter of a day.
the threats you are getting sould not be going on, you have a right to earn money without threats

Do you reckon?? I wouldnt see that someone would window clean if they were making easy money - its too much like hard work lol
:)
But id flippin go up 2 em too

I'm based in Altrinham but the hassle started when I branched out into neighbouring Sale. I was warned about these guys, apparantly they scared another window cleaner off a while ago.
The funny bit is that they called me a 'skinny little bas***d' and commented that they knew I was on my own, so just bully boys really. I suspect someone described my leafletter to them. I am 6' 2" an 20 stone (some flab now muscle since taking up window cleaning). People who know me are laughing at the idea of them tackling me thinking I was a little skinny fella.

Altrincham, Cheshire. A bit away from you I think.

I kinda look at it like that too. If they were that violent they would be drug dealers or loan sharks, not grafting for a living cleaning windows.
I just laughted at them and said 'you must be crap if you are so worried'.
-
what i mean is people have to launder there money so a cash business and they get some mug to do it, these people have all types of business to hide there crime
-
Some drug dealers use window cleaning and other manual labour jobs to justify their income.
theres one guy in Leicester who does this, the police now but cant prove a thing.
he's self employed, so he can put whatever he feels like through the books whether its from window cleaing or not.
so in short they are using window cleaning to launder the money they take through drugs.

Try getting a crime number from them to ensure it is logged. If the copper on the front desk won't log it, (politely) say that you wish to report this crime to someone of higher rank. If the copper on the desk still won't do anything, write in with your report to someone of higher rank, expressing the fact that you are prepared to go to someone even higher if the crime is not logged. I'm sure that many coppers are OK but unfortunately, some of them can't be bothered with the paperwork unless there is a good chance of nicking someone.
Although a threat to kill in anger is very rarely acted upon, it is regarded as a serious offence (unless the copper is the gun holder in which case they are allowed to shoot a person with table leg in a bag and pull naked a unarmed man out of bed and kill him with, apparently, the full backing of the state).

Can they do that these days? I know they can get withheld numbers if they are logging a line but didn't realise that they could get a number retrospectively.

Sale?
i get lots of calls to work there, so they must be pants, just go and undercut all their work and then never do it hahahaha that s what id do :)
