Title: Trolley system
Post by: seandyer2003 on June 30, 2009, 06:40:47 pm
Anyone run one out of a car??

How many barrells do you reckon a normal family mondeo size car could handle?

10? or is that too weight??

because i presume its made to carry upto 4 people which could easily be 300 kg?? and ten barells is only 250

and i reckon most could go in boot
but then where does trolley go haha??

anyone use it like this

Its a short term thing i wanna do for lad working with me ....

i used 1 for years

i used to carry my cart and 10 barrels

i had a passet estate and a fiat marea weekender

i used to spread the weight about

the cart and 4 or 6 barrels in the boot

2 barrels in each foot space

1 day per 6 weeks, i used to have to carry more water, so i used to put them on the rear seat and seatbelt them in

i knew the risks about unsecured loads etc etc which is something to keep in mind, as if you have a accident and them 25 L barrels start flying around, it will not be pretty, but i knew the risk

i suppose if its only one day every 6 and you go easy its not bad, if you did it every day it might be a bad more risky!!

I just want to do it in the period between getting a two man system and now, as i want to get the lad with me on wfp ?

But i might get a small van, stil in two minds

What trolley did you have matt?
HOme made or bought one?

first of all it was a cleantech trolley ( peter Fogwell also does them ) then it was a sack truck design trolley )

(http://d.co.uk/cart2.JPG) it could take 2 barrels of water, i in time ditched the jump start and put a battery where the 2nd barrel would be

then the sack truck, will a battery box under the barrel

i dont sell it mate, the whole idea is to save money buy building it yourself, thus by me selling means i will make the money

by all accounts the omni 35 L is a nice setup ( just dont tell glyn i said that, as it might make him think i like the trolley )

as for not being able to do DIY, its all very easy

The 35L trolley is actually very compact and should fit upright on the floor between front and rear seats of a medium size vehicle.

i run peter fogwill trolley from back of car, carry 6x25ltrs filled to the brim so nearer 30ltrs, back seats down, 4go across and 1 either side of the trolley just in front of wheelarches. trolley goes in the middle of boot space. it is a 50ltr trolley built to carry 2x25ltrs so is bigger than purefreedom type.
harris pole goes down passenger side.
50mtr mirco on cheap hose reel goes on the other side just nicely.
plenty of hose from trolley to connect to reel when put on the tarmac.
i come back at lunch and top up. could get another 2or3 containers in at a push.
changing the containers really slows you down alot and can get frustrating, but you adapt and make the best of it.
i've used it like this for 3months ish, and find it easier and less tiring than pulling the trolley around.
it's done me well so far, but i'll have a van soon and a proper tank.

TBH i think the way im gonna do it now, is go in and get a van but have a tank for me to do fronts etc, and get the lad to use a trolley for backs sides, etc, i just wanted trolley now to start changing work over before i get van, but i might wait :(

Ideally he could use a backpack but its gonna be too much faffing running back to the car, id rather dump the 25 litre barrells along road and then work non stop:) And i can just see too much hose snagging with 2 hoses on one house, one is bad enough, and if its only doing fronts and side etc it shouldnt get too caught up :)
