Title: 24/26 FT POLE??? XTEL/Brodex?
Post by: KINGAKNAA on June 29, 2009, 05:21:35 pm
Torn between a 24 ft GF XTEL and a Brodex 26ft GF hydra. Both decent prices and very similar. Main advantage of XTEL is that it is much smaller collapsed.

Any thoughts? ???

There both good poles, main difference seems to be the brodex is complete, but by the time you've added brush, neck & hose you're looking at another £30 for the gardiner!

Good points, hard to decide, although the Brodex works out at £126 including delivery and vat, the XTEL is £111 delivered and vat. I only really need the bare pole.

Brodex say on a scale of 1-5 of rigidity they class this pole as a 1 (extremely rigid) I am currently using a 21ft XTEL and find it a bit whippy at length.

Same quoted weights, but XTEL collapses to 5'2" and the bodex to 6'5"

Be interesting to see how you get on with the Brodex mate, keep us updated.  ;)

The X-Tel 24ft collapses to 6ft not 5ft 2"   :)

My apologies Alex, just re-read and I read 5 x 5'2" sections.  :-[

Call Brodex and speak to there sales team. They are always cheeper than the net prices.

They offered me a 25ft for £95 inc del. Special deal.

I have the 18ft hydra pole which is light.

Clamps are a pain though. Still think the Xtel clamps are the best.

Am going to buy a Gardiners next but would like to see one first.

i used the 26ft brodex hydra f/g pole today and i would say its a bit more rigid than the xtel , i think the xtel i used to have was a similar length  , also the butt cap is better and you get a years guarantee , plus a bit more adjustment on the clamps , however the clamps can get snagged on gutters etc , i would go for the brodex regards alan
