I call all my custies to let them know we are coming the next day, i have a few i text. Its one thing that most of them comment on, saying its nice to know we are coming. Also, as most of them are not around when we clean, we pick up lots of extra work. I know lots of cleaners say, i dont waste my time calling, but for my business it works very well.

I don`t phone before i go to the job they will normally ring me a week before on a big job and we will confirm a day prior to cleaning,i hear a lot on here say they have to ring £5-10 jobs the night before but i have to say i would never do that.I say to them when taking them on in the past i will clean your windows and leave a slip saying i`ve been, if there`s any access issues i will give them the option to give me either keys to any gates or gate codes etc.If they were to say never clean my windows if i`m not in i would say i won`t be cleaning them then.

I have found while canvassing and picking up customers that customer service is an important part of building a customer relationship, having picked up quite a few customers recently because people dont like windows cleaners just turning up so to speak,I always say to customers I will phone or text a day or 2 before coming if required and say I will be coming in the morning or afternoon and try as be convenient to the customer as I can.

Running a window cleaning business this way is a nightmare,in order for them to get a call the job has to be worth it.

FFC I usually take a mobile number, that way I text them the night before, and because I have unlimited texts it doesnt cost me a thing lol

The OAP customers get a call. The customers who have to leave a side gate open get a call. The £40 plus customers get a call.

The rest?....Nope!

Dont phone them at all...

I run a 8 weekly scheduled service...when they have been cleaned they get a chit n the door saying they have been cleaned, bank details and the date of their next clean...8 weeks to the day...

I dont phone them or collect..in fact I very rarely see the majority of them let alone call them...

It works well...

Dave.

Sounds a good system. But with my customers who have to leave a gate open I wouldn't trust them to remember something 8 weeks away.

I have just started taking custies mobile numbers and text them instead of ringing, because some of them can keep you chatting for ages!!!!

On the same note im getting a few that are replying "can you leave it this time" !!  (sign of the times i suppose)

I phone the big ones,.. I find its a great source of motivation,.. If I've promised someone to turn up then I have to get my butt in gear! :)
