Hi
Can anybody tell me what parts i will need to do a system in my van. I don't want to put a permenent system in as i only want it for around 3 x third floor windows and a 2nd floor office which is scary off a ladder due to size of windows and upvc sills.
I was thinking of just using a few 25lt water barrels linked together for the water. Will i need a RO system or could i just get away with a blue bottle thingy?
Be exact on the parts as i haven't a clue, been traditional for 24 years but don't want to replace the triple ladder again.
Cheers

pop over to the DIY forum ( e.mail me for a link )

i have done a very basic starter on the forum
if its only for them few windows
you will need a RO ( a 50 GPD from RO-MAN ) about 70 quid
a pole and brush ( personally i would use a fishing pole http://diywfpole.webs.com )
when i started and had some 3rd storey work , i used a hand pumped backpack, it worked very well, was hard work, but did the job for the number of windows i had ( you can pick them up for 30 quid ) , failing that, buy yourself a battery pumped backpack ( i think they are about 125 quid each )

Cheers for that Matt
Money is not a problem and i may want to turn it into a complete van system later on. I just haven't decided if i want the hassle that i have read about on here.

you might aswell go for a small RO making water into a 210 L rain water butt
then just buy a battery pumped backpack
a fishing pole ( for the height you need )
job done

Water barrels are just too fiddly to use even for an occasional system and in my opinion gives you a bad start to the world of WFP.
My recommendation would be to strap a small tank (£75) into your vehicle (125 litre or even an 80 ltr tank) using 1/2" hose connect this to an 80psi delivery pump and strainer (£70) then a DI tank with resin leading to a hose reel. The tank could be filled from anyone's outside tap and you process as you go.

Hi
Cheers for the replies. It is the more professional way that i want to go as i don't want to be changing it all if i decide to go the whole hog.
Cheers again

BUT
a battery back pack will allways come in handy, even if you go the whole hog, it's allways handy for hard to reach windows, too far for your hose, people who have no rear access and you have to drag a hose though a house
