Title: missed call. am not happy
Post by: jouk45 on June 22, 2009, 10:40:10 pm
was working all day, got home around 5.30pm,  run my son to work, did some shopping, at 8pm my youngest says dad a custy phoned about a job, and needs it done for wed inside and out. ??? i says when did you get this, around 1.30pm this afternoon, and your handing it to me now i said, anyway calls them, they say we have someone calling at 9.30 tomorrow, now this job was at least £40, i was angry, they just never used there brain to call my mobile and i would have called them hours before anyone else got there, has that ever happen to you

this is why you should have a WORK mobile, a separate phone only for work.  your kids can then refer calls to it.

Happens all the time - wife "someone called for you today" who was it? "I dunno but I told them not to call you on your mobile 'cos you'll be angry if they do"
Well was it a customer or what? "I don't know". Jeez.  ::)

I got a home landline and another landline which is my business number in another room which is diverted to my mobile, I never miss a call.

I don't know why people belong to the forum if they take no notice of what works best.

I don't give my mobile number, just the landline and if my missus is not in they leave a message,if I don't get back to them I am too busy, but that is very rare,it is polite to phone back and say it will be at least a week before I get the job done therefore they can get somebody else.

Just divert the landline to your mobile when your working and you won't miss another.
Just ignore all the 08 numbers that come through.
I carry a notebook round with me when I'm working and it's not much hassle for me
answering the phone whilst working as I'm a cc.

why dont you just get them to call your mobile only and not your home phone? it's more direct for them, and you!

Majority of custys ring landlines, they dont like ringing mobiles, it might cost but securing that job that job would of made you more money then your phone bill, when I didnt divert and just had ansewer phone most of the messages where people hanging up, and I personally would never employe someone to do work for me i.e plumber, electrician etc that only uses a mobile number, but thats my opinion.

I tend not to give out my mobile too often as I'm always getting pestered by sales reps of some kind. The minute they get over polite and ask how I am I know they want to sell some advertising space somewhere or another. Had one yesterday from someone wanting to know if I wanted lots more commercial work in the biggest city close by. Never asked for a quote, just the usual sales pitch.
