Hi mr d just google vauxhall vivaro problems and your see for yourself
-
I bought mine new in 2003 and it was great until about 55k and then nothing but problems. It has cost me over £1000 this year and it is about to go in for its mot. It has warning lights on for the braking system and the clutch is not working properly so it may just get scrapped. I will wait and see what the garage says. It has also gone through a set of brakes every 18 months. It has no rust and is like a car to drive but I wont be buying another.

I've heard there is a real difference between the earlier models and the later ones.
the one i've reserved is a 07 vauxhall vivaro sportive. it has the 2.0CDTi engine and with 115bhp as opposed to the older models.
will this make much of a difference do you think?

sorry to be blunt but i would not take the chance i went for the transit because it has got to stop on the road not in the garage but thats just me hope your new one's ok mate keep my figgers crossed for you.

I'm really worried now coz I dont think I'll get a transit to match the vivaro I've reserved at the same £££ :(
but I've heard nothing but good about the transits. other than they rust bad fast and are ugly as Susan boyle

thats very true mate but after all its a works van and they have been around for years and they have some nice add on's for the transits at lease you know it will stop on the road for longer than the vivaro.

mr d if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the vivaro? ??? ??? ??? ???

Me and my partner brought one of these each because they drive realy great, We had a o6 plate and 56 plate.
Unlucky for the partner the gearbox went, so had another fitted, other little problems happened after until 6 months further new gearbox failed again. This as now been sold very cheap.
Mine gearbox was fine but i had alot of other problems eg stops when it wants then have to wait for about 5 minutes to start again. It made us both very angry and as we realy tried to give these vans ago cause we like the performance.
At the moment we are both sharing a old r reg master which we kept for emergencys. Nice vans vivaros but the ones we had seemed always too much of a problem for the engineers.
-
Forgot to mention doing my research on the vivaro problems, It seem that a cdti engine which we also had in hower vans just could not tackle the slightest upset without causing or stupid problems.
If your turbo fails, they have clean all fuel tanks and pipes filter and then put a new turbo on.
Transit has problems but will carry on its work,
If your vivaro happens to be one of the good ones, you should enjoy it.
-
thanks for the reply david. sorry to hear that.
not good news :(
-
Its not all about the warrenty of free labour and parts.
If something goes wront it takes these engineers weeks and then they say " see if that works"
I would say do buy one but dont get rid of your older van, unless your a big firm who have several

sorry about the spelling mistakes, typing in the dark

The best van i have had, very pleased

I've the Primastar version of the same van, and apart from one or two niggles it has been great.
The biggest problem seems to be with the gearboxes on the Vivaro's but they have changed them over to the same one as the Primastar now and that is no longer a major issue...apparently!
Most people do not have problems, there are tens of thousands of these vans on the road remember, to read reports on here you would think every one of them is a lemon! Guaranteed to cost you thousands of pounds to keep on the road!!

I had to replace my engine at 24k on relay 03 plate, runs fine with new engine (touch wood I will not have to replace again) Transit not caused any trouble and cheap to fix should it need it ;)
