Title: Black foot marks

Hi

I did my parents' wool carpet with multi pro/ff rinse. All came up lovely except the areas in front of the two armchairs where there were blacker, more heavily soiled patches of a couple of feet square. I expect those of you with experience must see this quite a bit :)

I'm going back round tomorrow for another go at these areas, so I'm wondering:
1. Same again
2. Traffic clean / ff rinse
3. Something from the prochem spotting kit
4. Matricide  >:(

Any thoughts?

explain the cleaning procedure you went through ie dwell time / method of agitation /extraction method ( assuming hwe used)

was the pile of the carpet altered eg crushed pile

i did a lounge today really awfull traffic lines. had a quiet day and custy was in no hurry so decided to use one step premium with just water to extract. ( if didnt work would try something else)  added a little citrus boost in the pre spray. agitated well with envirodri misted over again with pre spray and left to dwell for 10-15 min ( cuppa and chat) extracted with as hot as i could with the porty and it cam up really really well better results than when i have used a detergent based product   . to be honest have gone off prochem stuff.

Any soil transfer when damp carpet wiped with a clean terry towel?
Sock wool? Dye from socks/slippers?
Who makes Matricide?  ;D ;)

Sometimes these areas are suffering from fibre degradation. This is due to constant wear from peoples feet. Latex soled slippers are the worst culprits. Also due to compaction of the carpet and the underlay the carpet reflects light differently which can give the impression of dirt, especially on plain carpets. Pile wear also allows the carpet backing to show through. Some carpets have black Poly mesh interlayers and these show through creating a shadow. You also get this on stair edgings.
No amount of additional cleaning will improve these situations.
Of course if you have left dirt in it will improve with a further clean.

Sometimes Ultrapak Renovate from Prochem can remove it may be not fully but enough to make a difference, I would apply it hot with gentle aggitation and 10 min dwell then rinse.

is it the premium or fineline you have premium is graet on synthetics

Premium. I used it this morning. Will go back and see how it did when totally dry.
