1) you need more water pressure....booster pump?
2) no, 4 to 1 really aint that bad :-\
3) I've heard it rots clothes, but I don't think it turns you gay from drinking it..... although I wouldn't risk it ;D

what RO is it Concept? i normally time mine using a litre bottle or something similar to see how quick my production is?
P.S don't drink the water after DI it will give you the guts ache. a man talking from experience ;)
-
Saw the local kentucky had got a blue di vessel rigged up direct to their nescafe machine, on clear view from the counter.
I wonder if they all have?

i can see me saving hard for a 4040!!!
-
DI is ok to drink, RO leaves a cancinogenic residue apparently....

i may have a fairly new one for sale soon ;) to be honest under normal tap pressure i would only get about 50 litres an hour out of one 4040. and now i get about 120 litres an hour with 2.
how quick is the merlin going?

tell my guts that ;)

That must mean theres something already in the water thats carcinogenic, which DI takes out. Whats that then?
-
Ahhhh i remember my first cup of 000 like it were yesterday.
-
Matt, is that Spandau Ballet in your AV?

It's the other way around. The resin we use isn't food grade, hence toxic for humans. RO's are used in the drinking water industry with no problems at all. In effect, most of our RO's are used for that.

getting back to the booster pump... :P
-
i drank it once gave me awful trapped wind. thought i was gonna burst
-
If you saw the muck in my transfer pump you wouldn't drink it. :-X

If you buy a bottle of DI water to put in your battery/steam iron etc, it says on it "Do not drink"
The water we produce is the same stuff. Incidentally, tropical fish afficionados buy RO water from pet shops at vast expense - possible earner?
The reason you shouldn't drink it is that pure water has an aggressive need to revert to its natural impure state - as soon as it comes into contact with any substance it starts dissolving material, such is the nature of naturally occurring water.
If you drink it, what's the first soluble substance it comes into contact with? That's right - YOU - or rather your mouth/throat/gullet/stomach.
Hence Sparklebright's guts ache ;D
Drink enough and it can seriously damage your stomach lining

i think you'll find it was my guts Ian ;D

See, says it all, Sparklebright drinks the RO water and Steve CM gets the gut rot. ;D

Oh. :-[
I know that Coca Cola used RO on their Dusani purified water that they had to withdraw because RO left a small chemical residue that was carcinogenic. But I must say I don't drink either. ;D
-
I'm sure that had something to do with something entirely different.
Most of our RO's are just ones that are used for under the kitchen sink. Heck mine even says "to tap" on the out tube. :)

I've heard many others say this, but R/O water is about the same as rain water in purity, mine after the R/O is 0.002 ppm, rain water is around 0.006 ppm.
As soon as it hits your mouth it is contaminated and is no longer pure, by the time it hits your stomach it will have mixed with the food and drink you have consumed along with your digestive enzymes and stomach acid!
And as said, R/O is used all around the world to purify the likes of sea water for human consumption, the ones we use - such as the small units by RO man - are mostly used in the food industry.
Not sure about D/I water, I know the resin itself is poisonous but no idea if it is transferred in any way to the product water, I've yet to see any definitive, independent non-biased research on the subject.
Regards water production rates...don't panic if it only seems like a dribble being produced!!
I used the small RO man type unit for over 4 years and even at those low rates of production it was enough to keep 3 window cleaners going with WFP.
The Merlin will produce water much quicker than the small system I had, although it isn't as efficient in general due to it's faster production rate, although that also depends on the ppm of your tap water.
I didn't read in your post (or didn't notice!) what your mains pressure was?? Mine is around 65psi and anything around that pressure will keep you supplied with enough water with no problem at all.
