Title: 100gpd upgrade kit
Post by: Fieldsy on June 14, 2009, 09:21:01 am
My "little" system is running fine at the moment, producing water at 000 tds nicely. Unfortunately, as it is in my garage I have been running waste into 25 litre containers.............and you can imagine I am frequently running out checking to see that they are not running over........lol.   I actually made quite a nice little water feature with each container running into the next via a water butt tap, 3 in a line so far...lol

I want to reduce the waste so intend upgrading the membrane. Most kits I've searched seem to be between £45-£51. Anyone know of a cheaper supplier for the kit, membrane, housing, housing clips, pipe etc.. or am I looking at paying roughly the above price everywhere.

thanks Fieldsy

Get one of these, you'll need it sooner or later:

Do you have room for an IBC? There's someone giving a couple away free on another forum

thats about the right price for the upgrade kit ,
why dont you just let your waste water go down the drain rather than keep filling the 25 ltr containers ?

Hi Nathanael,

Yes thats ideally what I want, but my 100gpd has a booster pump fitted inline, auto flush, and working fine at the moment, all for under £100, so all I really need is an upgrade. Funnily enough I have just been looking at IBC containers (as I feel I will end up going down this route). Yes, I do have enough room in the garage for one.

@dave,

yes I would do that Dave, but all my downpipes are sealed into the surrounding driveway, and all manhole covers are the locked handle type (we have an imprinted driveway), and they are not easy to get open or practical to leave open. :-\

hang on, just given myself an idea  ;D

What about the kitchen drainage outlet from the house.

It'll look like this

@Matt,

yes m8, we have one of those, but garage is at front and kitchen at back, would have to run right around the outside of the house or through the house....

not to worry, think I have a cunning plan !!! ;)

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D :D :D

Voila!!!!!, 5 minute job and sorted.  no more cascading water feature  :( ...lol

The guy who sold me the ro unit sent me loads of extras, filters, piping, connectors etc....

I had 15ft of spare piping. I've just drilled a small hole where one of my downpipes meets the concrete and extended the waste from the ro to the downpipe (pushed the pipe through the hole) which is just outside my garage door.

Waste now runs straight to downpipe  ;D  no more checking barrells.

Why the bloody hell didn't I think of it earlier  :(

Now about those IBC tanks Nathanael ??? ;)

Because you liked changing your barrels over every 15 minutes but have grown tired of it  ;D ;D

And because your brain equated after some lengthy use of your thought processes that someone was about to suggest drilling into your outside down-pipe and you wanted to be able to say you'd done it before some else suggested it  ;D

Ta dar
