Yesterday I cleaned a suite using 1:10 dilution. Today cleaned similar suite using 1:4 with better results (sounds obvious really doesn't it!). What seems to be the average dilution used to clean upholstery? Also does anybody mix their m/s with warm water or is it always cold?

I generally use warm water, but if i have some left over from a previous clean, i'll use that. I can't say that i notice the difference really ???

Hi Guys ,
By the time it comes out of the nozzle , travels 2 feet down to the carpet , the atomised spray will be pretty close to room temp.

After a great deal of experimentation I find that a dilution rate of 1:16 seems the most effective/economical.
If mixing a fresh batch I normally use hot water but as Doug has pointed out, the cooling of the mist-spray is so rapid that, like Ian, I use cold left-overs with no discernible difference in efficacy.

im trying the craftex one at the mo and diluting 1/20 as advised, am getting good results with this, doesnt seem right though putting such a small amount into sprayer. Anyway it works and is very economical.
Ps has anyone tried bane cleans baby powder scent in your tank its bloody bootiful! and the ladies luv it :-*

I find with MS that less is more!
I find 1:16 works the best for me but I do only mist it on carpets or upholstery they are hardly damp the aggitation is the main key, or is it that I'm a tight Yorkshireman ;D

PS does anyone remember Paul Elliott selling an electrical rotating brush for upholstery/stairs?
Just thinking if it would be any good for cleaning with a microfibre pad on it for upholstery cleaning.

I was thinking along similar lines a few days ago.
Quite a few CC's use the Texatherm 'Minitex' for upholstery. Although I don't have one yet I've seen it in use, and it's good, as the bonnet removes/absorbs some of the soiling.
I was thinking though.....Would you get even better results, and more soil removal, if the bonnet had a Microfibre 'face'?
Just wondering.

Interesting point Martin. We bought a Minitex at the MK get-together and used it on several flights of stairs within an office last week.
While the results were reasonably good I wondered if we would get an improved clean with microfibre bonnets.
Is anyone aware of any manufacturers that make them that size?

I use a caddy clean made by contico, it uses a clip on 9v rechargable battery which seems to run all day before needing a charge.
It is lightweight with 2 x 10 centimeter / 14" contra rotating pads with velcro for using floor stripping and polishing pads. They also come with micro fibre pads which i use on upholstery sometimes. Also comes with a range of different strength brushes.
It also comes with a clip on retractable handle and tank for floor scrubbing.
Not a cheap piece of kit, If memory serves me well about £500.00, but well worth it for the versatility and multitude of uses.
