I've cleand lots of things in my time from degreasing cranes to boats. I have now been asked to clean blackjack, roulette tables at a large casino in Cape Town.
Never done this before and worried about over wetting the felt and damaging the underlying wood. There are also alot of eletronics on the tables such as microphones etc.
Any one doen this before and if so what advice can you offer. If we can get this right then there are 70 tables that need cleaning every month

We have cleaned snooker and pool tables by lightly spraying M power or a microsplitter and wiping with a terry towel ( a damp micro fibre mitt would also be ok )
The important thing is not to over wet so stain removal is a problem but M power sorts out most of them.

Hi jeremy
I worked 20 years as a croupier so yeah i know where you are coming from, although harder work I would go in on the manual route, the table cloths are very thin and all the staining is from dirty hands and dirty chips.
Most of the staining is around the drop box (where the cash goes) and where the dealer stands.
maybe an idea is to spray with a solution and agitate in with a brush (lightly) terry towel, mitt and then just extract (dry passes)
With 70 tables, your looking at 30-40 mins each table.

I "Bet" it'll be tricky work!...... I'll get my coat ;D

It's a GAMBLE you've got to take.
Don't CHIP the wood at the edges.
Be WHEELIE careful.
Pass me my coat too Colin

I used to help and have put new snooker tables and cloths together for Rileys snooker, there are different types of cloth based on hard wearing to fast running but I wouldn't like to put much water on them as even when dry they would rip when pulled taught.

Hi
If it is a big casino they may have a room that you can work in, customers won't mind (most customers wouldn't care if someone died next to them & I ain't kidding!)
Don't forget that the cloth may of been damaged by the amount of dirt, the cloths tend to degrade because of wear & tear.

Eventually we cleaned our first test table.
The quality of the felt is very high with a rubber backing. Our first attempt was to clean as we clean furniture. This method used far to much water and had absolutely no effect on the dirt.
Our next attempt (table dried in about 30mins with a floor fan) was to lightly scrub the table befor extracting. Again to much water.
Our final attempt was to pre-spray with a Wetrok (low PH with some solvent content) product and use a microfibre cloth leaving the pre-spray on the table with no extraction. Worked like a charm leaving no watermarks. The table will be cleaned only once before the felt is replaced
We are back on Monday to try again using this method. This time we will concentrate on timing and planning.

Hi jeremy
Roulette coths are around £300 in the UK (Huxleys), blackjack cloths around £200 so by using you there are probably making a good saving and using you regulary (more than once) they can make a considerable saving.

Martin.
You're right about the prices of the cloths. There isn't much money in this for me as we have to pay a Johannesburg company a com for giving us the work. However, this is the biggest Casino in Africa (may be even the world) it has 3000 slot machines and 100 tables. It has 10 movie theatres, an Ice rink, conference centre and 300 room hotel. The current cs
Jeremyarpet cleaners in the building are permanently on site. I'm hoping for a slice of the pie.
I was walking through the parking lot and looked at 3 clowns pressure washing the parking bays. I happened to comment on this and now have to submit a quote.
