Cant decide wether to put a reel in the van, to work along side recoil and bane tanks.
Have re-jigged waste tank to smaller size and turned it to fit behind bulkhead.
Still have lots of room, just wondered what your thoughts were.
If with a reel is it best facing out of side door or out of rear tailgate

Well I wouldn't be without reels, they save a lot of room in the van by storing 200 - 300 ft of vac hose neatly. Have you ever seen this amount of hose just coiled up and thrown in a van ?.
-
Hi Andrew
I carry 150' of 2" all hanging from the roof of the van.
Leaves the floor clear for other stuff I need, some only from time to time ie vac, Envirodri, Cimex, rotary.
-
how mcuh foot of hose do you have, or are likely to carry
-
I have about 90' of 2" which fits easily on the reel, probably room on it for 150' i would imagine.
Have about 100' of inch and a half which i would think will become redundant except for 10' for whip

Dont see the point having a hose reel when your only using a porty but then again its the Scorpion best place for it is in the back of the van were no one can see it.
-
Heard its as noisey as a truckmount to.
-
Been told the Recoil is much noisier than the new Scorpion.
Many a customer has said "That sounds very powerfull"
Its a lot quieter in van with tailgate down and side door pulled to slighly.

As Glynn says if your carry that amount. I only carry 150ft and prefere no reel for this amount. However on those few occasions when i need 250ft+ its a reel mess!!
No excuses portables should be wisper quiet esp the scorpian.

I never considered the noise of my machine being an issue ??? The more noise the better I would have thought, if it gets nosey neighbours curtain twitching....
I always leave my machine outside anyway and I've secured work from people liking the smell of the orange scented Prochem FabFib, but they were intrigued initially by the noise of the machine ;)

Thats great but in 20 years your hearing will be shot.

is that why my tech takes no notice of what i say, thought it was his age :o

but if the machine is outside, the noise is outside.
ok, so you go to attend to the machine occasionally, surely some form of temporary protection will suffice for those occasions.
And whilst the Scorpion/recoil may be nosier then some machines, at least no owner has reported major problems bringing the machine to a standstill rendering it useless (know what I mean Darren O- what did it cost to resolve that problem).

It isn't that loud TBH and I tend to work well away from it in any case... If it was too loud I'd have no problem wearing ear protectors...

Never had a complaint that my Recoil is too noisy, gained many a job fom passers by from it.
Is it ugly, you tell me, i dont want to damn it.
It is the best machine i have had in 20 years, custy has never commented on machine looks or its noise, more on the quality of clean i do.
It is the most powerful porty available, until Altech dare to post there stats, funny how its been quiet recently about their new machine.
It is vary rare to see a Recoil or Scorpion for sale second hand, think i have only seen half a dozen advertised, i know 2 truckmount users who still prefer to keep machine, when they could get a very good second hand price for it.

If I am one of those 2 then fine, if not then its 3.
-
3 it is then Joe ;)

Back to post.
I would go without reel, not enough hose to justify losing floor space floor.
-
I take your point Karl, however my mate is popping round, he did the re-fabrication to the waste tank.
Will move into diff positions and see where is best, reel doesn't have to be on floor, could sit on waste tank at one side
and at other side a bracket off wheel arch, my opinion is it winds tighter on reel, than loose on floor or hanging from van roof.
