Cost about £60 - £70 odd to setup with brush, butt end, piping and conector, but after that its just £15 a pole and swap the bits.  ;)

Made one of these up a bit rapid as follows; because I intended getting one from Gardiners, but 3 week lead time for poles as they are on hols, and I couldn't wait....lol

Harris 5M pole
Pulex end piece from 3 part telescopic pole (fits very snugly in end of Harris) Pole is now approx just over 21ft +
Angle adapter and brush adapter
Supalite Brush from Garidiners (should be here Monday)
Flow valve from gardiners
30m Hosing from gardiners ( it was over £1 a metre in B&Q  rip off!!!!

Just one problem I need to be able to lock the end piece (pulex bit) in position, and have been looking for something like clamps in the pic, but not sure what they are called or where to get them........I'm sure they do ali ones as my daughters scooter has them on

All to go with a wcw backpack with microbore fittings....

........and I'm good to go............hopefully  ::)

yes m8, the ones for 6.99 in the post have an allen key head which you tighten to secure around the top of the retaining piece of pole, then flipping the lever tensions it even further to tighten the retained pole inside the retaining pole...........if that makes sense ...not sure it does...lol

The clamp slips over the top end of each piece, you then tighten it with an allen key to grasp the pole sufficiently, insert your next piece and push the flip lever over, this tightens the clamp on the pipe further and in turn grasps the piec you have just inserted in to it. Very simple mechanism, have them on my kids scooters, but never knew where to get them???

@dave no probs m8 ;)

Post by: LWC on June 03, 2009, 06:27:18 pm
Used it today for first time all day, well impressed, i didnt even mind the clamps, alot more usable when i first thought, so ill take a hold on them clamps until these wear out.

List

Harris pole                           £15

The rest of the parts are available from most places, im showing you from varitech
http://www.varitechcatalogue.com/
Pole end insert (page 18)    £2.45
Angle adaptor (page18)      £3.60
Brush (page 21)                  £18.56
Piping (page 25)                  £0.37 a metre
Coupling (page 27)              £1.96
These prices are all + VAT so around £30, oh and some rivets or bolt to hold pole end insert in.

£45 - £50 bargain!

i am sure if you use these clamps, you have to make slits on the section of pole, and epoxy them,

yes thats what i thought, could not figure out how they stayed in one place.

looks like you are correct jouk, just looked at 3 scooters we have and all have a split in the shaft with these clamps. Interested to know how the maker of above poles sorted this??. I'm assuming the split acts like a spring action so that the retaining piece opens and closes without just crushing the pipe.  I'm gonna get one anyway and have a play ;D ;D

it was me who made the harris slx lol.
 my username on other forums is dune19670.
 the clamps on the pole did work ok but i found them to be a bit awkward to use, so thats why i cut the sections down and made it into a mini pole, and to be honest i dont use that either, i still prefer my 17ft xtel for ease of use.
 the clamps had to be packed out with shims of metal and slots cut in to the pole to allow the clamps to compress, then every thing was araldited together, worked fine and is still together to this day.
