Title: Customers who try to help!!
Post by: Aquakleen Restoration Services on June 02, 2009, 05:11:57 pm
Hi all,

Occassionally I will get a customer who takes it upon themselves to try and help me set the machine up or even take it apart when Im finished.

Happened this morning. Old guy 80+ wanted to know if I wanted to borrow a few watering cans to fill up my machine. I said no your ok I have my buckets!!

After the job I was taking stuff out and he took it upon himself to push my Excel machine out for me. He pushed it as normal but your supposed to push it on it's back wheels only when going over course ground as it may damage the casters at the front. He didnt ofcourse but he was trying to help so I didnt say anything.

It doesn't happen that often but when it does it kinda pi$$es me off!! I know people are only trying to help but it slows me right down!!

When I had a carpet cleaner do my carpets years ago, he asked me if I wanted to have a go.... Reluctantly I said yes, "Your a natural!" he says, "I'll be back in an hour to pick the machine up!"

I wasn't the first he'd done this to either, but he did charge half price when he got back.....

Two things.

Firstly, you Mug!  ;D

Secondly, I hope you thanked him for giving you the first taste of your future calling.

Especially when they try and help you take stuff  back to the van and you lose track of where you are upto in packing stuff away.

Invariably you end up leaving something behind.

Having said that, I've just had an electronic measure returned to me 10 months after i left it behind on a job. Yes it was my own fault.

I don't mind them bringing stuff back to the van for me, I just say "oh dump it by the back and I'll put it away".  It's when they stand in the bleedin way whilst I'm trying to work that I take exception to!

The biggest problem is when they have adog and don't shut it away, they always try to "help" :D

Another gripe is when they stamd over your shoulder the whole time when your trying to work! It is very off putting!! I understand people's interest in seeing their carpets being cleaned but standing over me the whole time is a joke...it is very off-putting!

God Im in a right whingey mood!

A custys Dog was biting at my brand new solution hose after my old one was damaged by a rogue pin >:( I said to the woman that the bill will be nearly £200 if her dog bites through that, oh, and the stuff running through it "Will" kill your dog ;D She put the dog outside and stood over me while I cleaned >:(
