Any "orangy" stain like this can be almost impossible to remove - Joe's not wrong in his comment. Don't even mention irn-bru!
-
Lucozade and Irn Bru have the same problems which is colourant.........both have a yellow colourant Irn Bru has the same yellow plus a red.
Kirby the vacuum cleaner people have a product which they claim will remove Irn Bru staining.

Forget it, i`ve tried everything. The dye just loves wool and without recolouring you probably wont remove it. I have also had the same with some of the alcopops such as wkd, I dont know what they put in these drinks but it can`t do your insides any good.

Prob best to explain to your client that it wont come out and least they might keep you in mind next time they want some work doing :)

The colourants are in the " undesirable " 400's can't remember which. If the spill is fresh it can come out with high heat / towel, but could remove carpet dye as well.

Thanks for all your help.

It did say at the top of the thread that it was a cream carpet so I would try spray and go (sodium met) nothing to lose.

had the same problem with Cider! On a pale green carpet, bright orange stain. Some came out but very little.

Update i phoned lucazade up and told them i had spilt lucazade on my carpet and this is what they told me to do 1 cup of hot water 1 tsp of bio washing powder 2 x tsp of washing soda mix for one min then apply to stain then rinse with white vinegar i tried it on the scrap carpet and the stain did get lighter on each application but i didn't have the bottle to try it on my customers carpet.

Its basically a lost cause .... Yes?
Then get the client to sign a disclaimer, and do what youve practiced on your own bit of carpet.
You could have a customer for life, and she will tell all her friends about this very nice carpet cleaning man!

I've come across literally hundreds of Irn Bru stains and ALWAYS point them out to the client ( who usually knows ) saying it won't come out, but might fade a bit.
No point in farting about and hoping for miracles.
Although there have been occasions when I've been successful when using HIGH HEAT ( ordinary steam iron through white towel ) along with whichever product you favour for removal of red dyes.
Using the above method YOU WILL GET COLOUR LOSS so be careful, you might need repeated treatments and must be careful of TOO MUCH HEAT.
Is it worth it ?

Pretty much John, if its a wool carpet I would not hold out much hope, infact I wouldnt really want to even go to the job as I know it wont come out (let your unforunate competion have it ;D)
If its synthetic it may come out.
