I was in a supermarket today and seen that the RD was out yet again and started to think that I really quite fancy beating them at their own game, undercutting their prices and renting these horrible little machines out myself.... At least I'd get more phone calls and I could try and convert the RD loving custy into getting the job done properly.....
I know a few of you do hire out machines, but do you beat Supermarket prices, and how many custys do you convert?

Colin i have 3 numatic ctd902 machines that i hire out at £35 with shampoo(cost me about£2 a bottle)including 2 days hire delivery and collection.Last week i had 4 hires .Quite simply dont look to compete on price but the service ie a professional brings it to you and you feel more competent of doing a good job.I have said before it can lead to proper work to and is a good little cashflow.email me your address and i can send you a postcard that i use for advertising for you to get an idea.Regards Alan(swindon) email me at julietipple@yahoo.co.uk

Absolutley have to agree with you there Alan, the custy will appreciate the good advice and if you're supplying the shampoo too, it's better value for money.
-
Colin i live in a big town(swindon) so this works for me but going too far wouldnt make it practical unless add £5 extra if over 10 miles say.Regards Alan
-
Colin for some reason the pictures wont transfer to either of the numbers but in short it spells out the hire deal and has a picture of a baby on it so it grabs the attention of the drivers behind Alan
-
Colin, from some of your posts I'd say these would be the sort of people who you would be wanting to kill within 10 minutes, or at least shout at. ;D
Focus on CC, it's hard enough to get established as it is without diversions into unknown, energy sapping stress creating dead ends.

i think its worth looking at colin but taking into account the pop density compared to some bigger cities i believe it would be depremental to what your trying to achieve. plus added time in delivery problems maintanace i think it would be more hastle than its worth to make peanuts.
if i were thinking of doin it i would buy a machine and keep it in the van for those occasions that we all get where oh its too much i think i will hire a machine then you can sell that service
-
Only if you have premises from which people could collect / return otherwise as Mike O says you'll be beating yourself up for little return and possibly missing the BIG FISH
-
I think the way Alan runs it is doable, I also think there's nothing to lose and the hire machine could also be my spotting machine.... I can't see it getting so busy that my business would suffer and if it did, I just apply the breaks a little bit.
I can see the scenario now, hire machine for a small job needed but I say to custy, for another £10-£15 I can do it for you, professionally ;)
It'd be the last resort to hire the machine out if I knew the customer was "Getting away" so to speak and falling for the "Splash And dash" C/C....
-
The dry cleaners in my town used to hire out a cc machine until one day it never came back, so you need to ask for some kind of deposit and proof of address to avoid the thieves.

Fine, but don't say you weren't warned. ;D
-
Mike ;D
-
He's been warned. ;D
-
Yeah, You'd have to have some sort of death wish to steal anything from me... ;D
Not even a scummy pikey would steal a RD!
-
col
never mind if it get pinched
give it 3 days and it will turn up a recycle centre.
lol
-
I think you'll find it will end up being a bit of a nightmare for little money, there will be a lot of running around to drop off & pick up, phonecalls to arrange it all, insurance too. If it is successful you'll be amazed how much of your time will be taken up with it.
-
I would be looking to pass that side of business to the wife for pocket (Shoe) money if it was so successful ;D
Sure beats her having Anne Summers Rubber Dong parties for extra lolly ;D
-
Just because you're banned from them!
-
Could you imagine if us fella's had such parties.... We'd be called perverts ;D
And you're right Robert, I have to leave the house ;D
-
We are perverts ;D
Your right mind you colin if we started to start dressing up in schoolboy uniforms and naughty male nurse smocks ;D
Me i save my scoolboy stuff for the ac dc concerts ;)
-
You are all perverts!! Clinton - I've seen AC/DC Live at Wembley - they were amazing, I was a 'mosher' as my uncle called me! I've seen loads of bands live - Alice Cooper, Metallica, Faith no more, Red hot chillis, sabbatt, nuclear assault, motorhead ;D

It's the new wig. ;D
TM, I got the second hose that burst off with a Dremmel. Took it in this morning and got a new hose that I managed to fit.
Now I've got no heat again despite Dave sorting it. It's taken big chunks out of me so I'm not going to waste any more time on it, I've lost too much business. So much for the licence to print money. ;D
