Title: IONIC PUMPS
Post by: stephen s on May 30, 2009, 03:34:03 pm
Hi people.

just looking for some advice on how easy it would be to fit an Ionics pump myself ?

the reason I ask is that today (sat )  I was doing a commercial job when my hot pump packed up,
not to worry I thought as I only had a new cold comp fitted back in Jan so switched over tio the cold only to find it worked for just 5 mins before that packed in.

I was getting something back out of the hot pump but no where near the pressure I'm used to getting and although I will try to get into Ionics on Monday you usually need a booking day so thought if I could fit it myself I would.

my system is an Ionic Pro 5 thermapure

many thanks in advance

Steve

disconnect  power then disconnect the fitting on each side of pump, track wire from pump (normally red and black), remove wired connection, take off pump replace and ptfe tape all screw in connetions job done.

Are the Ionics pumps not just rebranded Aquatec pumps? I know they used to have a deal with Shurflo, not sure if they make their own now.

I don't have any friends no, I was trying to help the guy simple as that, if more people took the time in helping people instead of trying to put people down it would be a happier place.

just phone a supplier and order a new pump, shurflow or flojet

job done

pull the pipes off, disconnect the wires terminals

away you go

I have pro 5 too but the Ionic pump from them is an aquatec pump and half the
price elsewhere fitting is easy 2 wires red/ black 4 nuts, 2 quick release water
fittings but imo use a shurflo or flojet but also one of the reasons my pumps went ..... up is pump controls that got wet from being poorly positioned on control panel we have now moved them where they don't get wet, like just inside the back doors high up all in all its one of the easiest jobs to do

I will check it out later, but still feel I need to go to Ionics as I only had a new cold pump fitted back in January and only come to use it for the first time yesterday.     this after having it looked at about 4 times over the last 18 months.    the hot pump was fine from the day I had system fitted besides a few bouts of spluttering from time to time but I think its well and truely Donald Ducked now

also if I do have to have a new pump fitted can I do anything with the pump the take out ?     can it be re-conned  in any way and if so where would I take it ?
