Title: Judas in the house !!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: cleanability on April 24, 2005, 02:02:25 pm: Sorry chaps but I'm about to lay a 12 X 12 room in my house with LAMINATE FLOORING !!!!!!!!!!!!........its average quality. With beading and foam underlay its £115 all in.. Almost the same price as some of you chaps would charge to clean a room that size. A £100 carpet would be very poor quality.

Post by: ABLECLEAN on April 24, 2005, 10:42:01 pm: As someone that was in the flooring trade for 17 years I would say that the laminate you have bought will not last very long!! Just over £8.50 a M2 !!!! have a look for small chips on the ends and the backing will probably be made of a paper composite. As the other member stated It is noisy, slippery, has to be dusted daily and wait until you come to fit the beading! The best and by far the easiest way to install it is to remove the skirting boards.

Noise, cold, slipping, looks etc. etc. are all secondary issues.
As for price, you get what you pay for!

Post by: cleanability on April 25, 2005, 10:37:01 pm: Because £100 for laminate flooring for a 12 x 12 gets you a decent quaity product. Not the best but not the cheapest. And it will definitely outlast the 12 x 12 £100 carpet. My mate has had the exact same flooring in his house for about 2 yrs and its fine.
