I had a lady ask me yesterday if i was using a t/m , yes I said, I could see the apprehension on her face, noticing this ,I asked her if this was a problem.

well she said, the last to clean it in November used a t/m and I,m sure they only wet it, it didnt look any cleaner and my suite took 2 weeks to dry ::) ::) :o :o

I assured her other wise and completed the job, she was happy booked me in for more work.

Yes I asked who cleaned it last time and yes i do know who it was :)

geoff

ps. nobody on this forum as far as i,m aware

Having the best equipment doesn't guarantee doing a good job. I've seen loads of people in flash cars who can't drive properly :)

i also have had a simalar situation lady had her carpets cleaned with someone using a tm and was not happy with how wet the carpets were left. in fact she said they were still damp 24 hr s later. i used my powerflite + wonderwand and she was gob smacked how quickly they were dry used machine at 400 psi. nice day so had patio doors open for air flow.

is this sometimes a problem when using a tm or is it just down to poor practice.

ps the tm guy would of only had to run at 70 ft max.
plus it was 38 sqm of carpet took him 45 min start to fin took me considerably longer but hey goin back next year and he isnt.

I've had a few similar experiences over the years.

But I'm sure there would be even more customers who have had good experiences with T/M operators and would never have a porty user again.

As JK says, having the best equipment doesn't guarantee doing a good job. It's people who clean carpets. Machines are just tools.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

It would be mad to think for one second that a porty is in any way better than TM, and no one is suggesting this, but the reason most of us want a TM is to be able to crack out more jobs than you could ever handle with porty... Perhaps the time it takes becomes more important to a minority of operators than providing an excellent service and leaving custy's with nearly dry carpets. But it must be stressed that a lot of porty users are probably just as bad and countless numbers of custys down here complain of past C/C's leaving carpets wet for days..... (Porty users too ::))

Every single job I've done I use my trusty air movers, and I always get the same comment, "Our last carpet cleaner never had anything like that!" I was lead to believe that when using HWE, air movers were an essential part of equipment.

Colin

i dont use my airmovers all the time depends on the weather airflow through the property use the wonderwand and find it great have a 3 jet wand also and experimented at home staggering differance in drying time. always use airmovers where i feel nessasary though

Richard,

I agree that sometimes (certainly at the moment!) I could get away without using them, but I've just got into the habit of using them and I'm looking at buying another 2 for schools and upholstery jobs.... I'll blow the bloody roof off ;D ;D ;D

Hence the need for a bigger van ;)

Kind regards, Colin...

Thought you had been nabbed by the Truckmount police from the title.

Anyone who rings up and asks questions like that my immediate reply is to find out why they are asking. It's actually an opportunity in disguise-of you ask the right questions.

About 12 months ago i got a call from the carpet fitter that used to refit carpets for us after flood restoration work.  He asked if i could go to 1 of his customers & quote for carpet cleaning.  Normally he just gets the work booked for us but on this occasion he said the customer had had a bad experience 12 months earlier with a CC so she wanted me to go & see her.  Arranged the appiontment & went to see her the following day.  She had the carpets cleaned by a CC that had used a TM,  the carpets were filthy & had shrunk.  She said the carpets didnt look much different when he had finished, took ages to dry & got dirty so quick.  She told me who the previous company was & i knew of them.  I told her that our system was basically the same,  this didnt impress her as you can imagine.  I gave her 200% guarrentee that she would have 100% satisfaction upon completion plus the carpet fitter gave her his trusted word.  I cleaned the carpets the following week.  She was over the moon & we got quite a few jobs from her since plus for her friends & family.

As already stated,  you can have the best equipment on this planet but if the operator dont know who to use it or cant be bothered then that equipment is worthless to the customer.  I have only had 1 domestic complain about another TM user but have had a few night clubs complain about other TM users,  Ive had loads of domestic & commercial customers complain about porty users though.  The domestic complaints were mainly because the porty user was crap but id say the night club complaints was a mix of the porty not been up to the job & the user.

Richie.
