Title: My first time with a glide WOW !!!
Post by: sanjuro on May 26, 2009, 08:34:58 pm
I bought a glide and a new westpak 1.75'' 4 jet wand a few days ago and just got round to using them together today and as i had two jobs today i thought i would do one with the glide and one without.
First job was a wool carpet been down over 4yrs and never cleaned only vacuumed 6 litres of prespray down and wanded without glide (2'' hose straight onto wand) the carpet was damp to the touch but maybe a little drier than my 1.5'' 2 jet wand (unglided)
Second job was a 80/20 18 mth old again never cleaned just vacuumed 6 litres of prespray down again and this time i used the wand with the glide attached (sealed on back and front but not sides) and WOW !!! what a differance EASY isnt the word soooooo smooth and great FUN because of the EASE of use but the biggest surprise was the dryness WOW !!! it was almost dry certainly the driest i have ever had and for some reason it seemed to be cleaning the carpet better than ever before (maybe its the speed of the air through the holes that removes more of the soiling), i know some people have tried glides and not seen any differance in dryness (maybe the glides are only effective on TM's or powerful portys) but for me there will be no going back to unglided wanding now WORTH every penny of what i paid (£74 Greenglide).
If you have never tried a glide before i urge you to try one.

6 litres of pre spray!!!

Wow that's a lot of pre spray, I used today on a thru lounge which had average soiling less than a litre with a 10 min dwell time and a good aggitation and it came up like new, I always turbo dry and the carpet felt dry.

Did I ever tell anyone that I was the first to get a glide in the UK?

Shaun

I use M-Power and find i need to get quite a bit down to get the result i want but both carpets had heavy soiling the old one had bad traffic lanes and the newer one had lots of baby vomit, cola, tea, poo, ketchup and nail varnish when first started with M-Power i wasnt getting the results because i was using too little but once i put down more i was happy with results.
Not the most scientific test for the glide but i was impressed.

As Shaun said....6 litres of pre-spray is alot.  The fact that you have to apply so much pre-spray when using M Power is one of the reasons that i dont like it.  I cna think of many chemicals on the market today that will NOT require even half of the 6 litres that you are using and give excellent results first time with or with aggitation or as much dwell time.

Hi Mark
I think the amount you putting down is over the top.
It needs enough so that with a good agitation the fluid gets all around the fibre its cleaning then it can break down the sticky dirt.
Try it with less and then use your envirodri (which i am sure you do anyway).
The fluid is just part of the pie chart remember.

you lot would have a heart attack if you worked with me, the more the merrier is my motto, i like to spray enough down so it's still damp about half an hour later when i'm ready to extract!!!

But Shaun, you have the same t/m as Colin, so why would you be putting down less prespay than him?  Or has this got something to do with Yorkshire?

Either we don't have carpets as dirty as Colin's customers or the water is more potent in the north.

if he has the same machine as you Shaun, perhaps you should both upgrade to a proper truckmount

a proper truck-mount!!!!!!  a 427 is proper enough for me, i know i overdose on the pre-spray as the heat and psi of the 427 would do the job well enough with less but old habits die hard i guess. i probably use at least 10ltrs on a 3-bed but with the vac/heat on the 427 my carpets are no wetter when finished than others would be,

If I decide to prespray a whole house before even thinking about rolling out my hoses, then like Colin I put down a heavy layer of prespray.  No point in trying to rinse extract dried out prespray.
Upside of this system is that you reduce your time at a customer by a good slice. So more customers can be serviced in a day & we all know the benefits of that
