Come on, lets see what gear you all use (only open to porty uses Im afraid)
I use Prochem Powerplus Steempros twin vac, 500psi, with heat n run exchanger
What do you use?
-
Scorpion (van mounted) with a Ninja backup
-
Prowler portable truckmount ;D
-
Scorpion (van mounted) with a Ninja backup
The scorpian doesn't have any heating system?? Does that work well for you?
-
Proclean
That could be interpreted as fighting talk ;)
Ditto to Sanjuro but with an Alltec Pro Plus back up.
Safe and happy cold water rinsing :)
The Ken
-
Guess what? - Scorpion - van mounted!
-
i use the CFR Pro 500 p/h & the CFR 400 port-a-heat, plus a powr-flite 175rpm floor machine & a victor contract 180rpm floor machine... charlie ;)
-
works fine for me with cold/luke warm water rinsing or sometimes V2 steammate if a bit greasy
-
wooden bucket on wheels, warm water and a good scrubbing brush
ECO ALL THE WAY !!
-
Scorpion triple vac for me but with 300psi (now 500psi standard), 2" hoses and in-line heater which works fine and gets water hot.
Backup is a van mounted Prowler 315 ;)
-
Powerflite perfect heat 1350 , envirodri ( for agitation)
-
Mytee Speedster and various agitation tools
Mike
-
Scorpion.
-
Mytee speedster with a back up of Hydramaster Boxxer 427 and RX20 :)
-
I have an old potty which has had plenty of flow but I prefer a 'man's machine' ;D
Shaun
-
hope we not compensating ::)
-
Pillar Box Red "Extracta Exel" and matching "Deluxe Scrubba" which is colour co-ordinated with the van and the uniform..... :)
Soon be upgrading to Alltec Triple Vac :D
-
Shaun,
It's not good to tell people you have a potty :o
-
Powr-Flite pfx 1350 ph , Ninja with original V1 built-in, as backup.
-
On the up grade side of things , are we really up grading if we only buy another porty
No I dont think so
its more of a side step really if we be honest with over selfs .
now a TM is an up grade
Ricky the porty user ;)
-
If a porty produces a better psi and a better lift than the one you've got.... That's an upgrade in my eyes!
-
No colin wasnt havin dig was just a pondering
On the up grade theory
-
No worries Ricky, I was just putting your ponder to bed mate ;D
Regards, Colin.....

My maths may be wrong, but having Googled Hg - Water-lift comparison.
My Powr-Flite has more water lift than most truckmounts ( 17+ Hg). Granted the CFMs
don't compare at all well. But i can happily clean just about anything at 500 Psi, without
fear of over-wetting, and with quick drying times.
When i use my home made booster, i double the CFMs and have problems with the Wonderwand
locking to the carpet. So don't assume just any Truckmount is an upgrade.
-
Lift is not a crucial issue. Cfm is of more interest. As we all know ;) heat is an important factor in easing the cleaning process and this is where a t/m helps.
At the end of the day what is our portable or truckmount doing? Rinse extracting the dirt, but oh, how many more square meters of carpet can you rinse extract with a t/m compared to a porty.
Then again, if you don't have many square meters to extract on a daily basis, why upgrade to a t/m
-
CFM and lift is only the vacuum power what about the 'cleaning' ie the water flow? I have 5.5 gallons a min on my TM some porties only do a gallon so how much is really being rinsed? the vac should be linear to water put down.
Shaun
-
You are correct Shaun. Flow rate is important. The more you flush, the more dirt you will extract. A porty can flush as much as a t/m but you will have to spend 3 times as long doing it. Hence the t/m advantage for high area carpet cleaners
-
Van mounted Recoil with Bane tanks, inline heater when needed, and E40 for aggitation,

I think you should check your source for comparison on the mercury/water inches lift thing. Powerflight's website rates their top spec range at 150 or 160" water lift depending on which page you believe, from 2 x 2stage vacs. The conversion chart I used puts 150" water lift @ 11.0"Hg and 160" water lift @ 11.8"Hg.
As far as I'm aware, there are no extractors working at 17"Hg. Portys would collapse their tanks and T/M's would need more than a glide to stop lockdown.
Safe and happy cleaning :)
The Ken
-
Shaun are you using 5.5 gals a minute, or is that your theoretical maximum.
What pressure do you clean carpets at, because i often read truckmount owners
saying they clean at 2 - 250 Psi.
Powrflites website quotes for 2 x 2 stage. NOT the 2 x 3 stage HD vacuums, on
the pfx 1350 ph which produce 240" lift.
Amtech quotes 220" water lift.
http://www.amtechuk.biz/perfect_heat_spec.php
-
Ken
Some of the 'big' truckmounts such as the Vortex machines do operate at up to 18" of Hg
-
Not sure how they rate the 5.5 but I clean about 350psi but with 6 x 11015 jets which is another thing to put into the conundrum....Carol ;)
Shaun
-
Working on Amtechs figures of 220" lift, and using the formula
Hydramaster use, this gives 16.29 Hg ' 101 CFMs, which puts it nicely
on the graph line. The line demonstrates well that either vac optimised or air
optimised, work as well as each other, as long as they are balanced to produce
optimum results.

-
Would assume the flow rate, be it 5.5 galls per minute or whatever depends solely on the pump parameters. Whether you squirt it through 6 or 2 jets should not effect that figure
-
AJB
My suspicion is that Amtech have made an error and published cfm figures instead of lift. Looking at the US manufacturers Powerflight spec sheet for their different US models http://www.powr-flite.com/istore/machinepdfs/PFX1300.pdf you will see more realistic figures although they may be marginally different for 110 volts, but not by much. As you correctly stated, Powerflight use 2 x 2 stage vacs as I originally stated.
Paul
Wow :o
Safe and happy cleaning :)
The Ken
-
You're right about 6 or 2 jets but I meant that you have to look at what water is getting to the wand but also at what is coming out, 6 x 11015 is 0.9 where as most porties won't even do 2 x 0.3 and that's flow without getting into psi.
Shaun
-
Accepted Shaun :) But why are either of us in this thread. T/mers'
excluded I believe the initial post stated
-
You are right but I just need to take my mind off things after watching the TV about 3pm today :'(
Shaun
-
AJB
Apologies. Just rereading your post and the US specs, I see 2x3stage of your machine is, I presume, a UK only spec :-[
Safe and happy proof reading :)

I Take it everyones been watching Britains got Talent, as it went very quiet
since just before 9.
-
Only 2 good acts tonight - the last two, plus Escalla.
-
The Ventriloquist was very good, but he needs to wear clothing
that covers his adams apple.
I didn't think Escala were as good as they were last year!
-
I Take it everyones been watching Britains got Talent, as it went very quiet
since just before 9.
Went to price up a job, got in at 9.20 then proceeded to watch BGT.... Tried to vote and I couldn't understand why they weren't accepting my vote...
"Pair of thick Geordies won't let me vote" I'm saying to my wife...
"You daft sod, we're watching it on Sky+!" Didn't I feel stupid... ;D
-
Working too hard Colin :)
-
AJB you say you have made a vacuum booster yourself and i think there was a thread sometime back which showed the powerflite(that i have too) with a top mounted vac on it.Any idea where it was from Regards Alan (swindon)
-
This is what i based mine on,
http://www.steam-brite.com/store/universal-vacuum-booster-p-4832.html
Mines not quite so elegant looking, but i'm thinking of making a seperate box
with 2 x 3 stage, and a short hose to connect to the machine.
The beauty of it is i can convert my machine from 2 x 3 stage vac' optimised.
To 2 x 3 stage air optimised in about 2 min's. Also great if a vac' motor goes down on you,
just finish the job only minimal down time.
-
The extra vac would make the Powerflight 1350 the ultimate portable 500psi plenty of heat also must be the best looking porty out there.
-
Also like the look of the new Ninja.
-
AJB that steambrite looks the dogs but i have never bought from usa has anyone dealt with this company before do you know.Regards Alan
-
Just spoke to someone from Steambrite they said the vac inside the booster would have to be changed to 230volts i asked how much extra that would cost he went away and came back with 2 options it would be an extra $200 to change or they could just sell the booster without a vac in it and fit a 5.7 vac yourself and that would $200 less than the list price.I asked if it was easy to fit the vac yourself and the guy said he didnt no hes never fitted one.
-
Thanks for that Darren although it has left me a little confused now as anything techincal just goes over my head.I suppose it might be worth looking to see if anyone on this side of the pond would fit the vac Regards Alan
-
Powrflite PFX1350 perfect heat, sebo duo for agitation or cimex R48 if the cavalry is required.
P.S. As a youngster I used to shine shoes at the local train station - I used a Karcher industrial pressure washer and a 9" angle grinder for polishing off.
Paul
-
ninja 400psi............ :) :) sebo duo
earns me a 2nd living and i am happy with it!!!!!!!!
-
Prochem Powerplus Steempros twin vac, 500psi, with heat n run exchanger
Works for me!!
-
Ninja 400 psi, sebo duo and wonderwand.
Lots of happy custies.
-
Mines a 135psi ninja don’t need a backup but if I did it would be Wayne ;)
Phillip
A mate got perfect heat system with a wonder wand very very nice setup do you rate the wander wand ???
Len
-
Wonder wands are fantastic as far as i'm concerned.
Carpets dry very quickly, and i rarely use drying strokes.
To demonstrate to customers i run over a patch at 500 Psi, with no drying
stroke, and kneel down immediatley, no wet patches on knees.
If there was an auto fill and auto dump to go with the Powrflite, i think you
would have a great machine for commercial work. Each year i do 3 schools for
Worcestershire council, and wish i could run at 500Psi continually. Unfortunatly
at this pressure i'd be re-filling every 20 Min's.
-
I got a CFR eco 500, a lovely, good-looking, powerful thing with built in heater and heat coils around motors, and topped with the wonder wand and CFR hand-tool makes it a deadly combination. The best looking machine out there by far and with six wheels, easy to load/unload. :o
-
Dont think much of these Perfect Heat Coils was using my Powerflight yesterday and must of knocked the plug out for the heater carried on without the heater to see how good the perfect heat coils were the water wasnt even look warm with the heater of but with the heater on it even beats my Raptor for heat and that was some machine for heat.
-
If your just using the coils, as with the heater you have to hold the trigger for a while to bring the heat up through the pipe to the trigger. I think the coils are supposed to heat the water to 30 degrees which might seem cold but its warmer than normal water temperature.
-
Mr fearnley
If you require information on my prices please just give me a call, dont pretend to be a customer, Be upfront about it. You sent me a mail 2 days ago requiring pricing, I knew you were after prices.
Be upfront and ask, most are very helpful in this business.
Neil
-
Yes I was after prices, I haven't heard of C/C offering packages like yourself so I was interested. I thought you could give me a rough figure given I have an average size house. I may well be a customer in the near future who knows. :o
-
Just be upfront and I would have given it to you, pretending to be a customer is not on, being so local to me i would have been more than happy to help. ???
-
I don't see the problem in being interested in your prices wheather it's for possible work or for comparison, people on here discuss theirs all the time. It's fine if you feel like witholding it, if not you could email me :)
-
We on here are all up front and no what we do, you sent a mail as a customer to try and get info that you should have already have got when setting up your business.
You tryed to take the micheal by desception and could have got this info from anyone on here.
Your prices should be your prices, it does not matter what anyone else does near you. As they charge dpending on experience and the amount of work they have or want.
From your previous posts I would think that you should get yourself on a training course and you will get all the info and knowledge you will need to move forward without the need for deception.
-
Thats abit harsh, for just asking your prices and not mentioning im a c/c :o
-
Neil I get a few a month liek this I don't give a monkeys as the way I look at it is that customers don't always price compare internet customers usually want it now!!
Shaun
-
More than happy to help but people should just be upfront about it. Adam I am sorry if I have offended you.
-
I did quote a customer who I was sure was a CC as the amount of questions and the accurancy was a bit too much but they left a phone number and I called it and they booked in a suite and scotchgard, you can't really tell but that's life! if you do give your price to another cleaner so what? it all depends what they are going to do with it.
Shaun
-
I dont seem to be the one offended, anyway its gone off the topic now.
