99% will be out so makes little difference really. But if it makes you feel good then go for it.

I picked up an old customer of mine a while ago, well it was someone elses that i used to work with and i got on well with the custie so brought me back.

He told me that 2 lads that used to work for me turned up and canvased the street in and i quote "a clapped out old red car with some ladders strapped to top"

You will be surprised what people notice and talk about.

Nothing wrong with looking smart for work...and a uniform of sorts takes out the thinking involved each day...

When we say uniform, it's not really all that much is it....overalls, sweatshirts, polo shirts and a jacket...black/brown boots.

As for logo's and these items...I do not bother but thats my choice...people know I'm a window cleaner as I am normally cleaning windows when they see me;D...again it's all about choice.

Cheers

You have to wear clothes, so why not wear ones that make you look more pro? There really isn't a negative side to wearing a uniform,.. you look smarter & more professional,.. you're also advertising your service wherever you go, so why not?!
My uniform tops have the Guild crest on them, my company name, my name, and printed across the back is my phone number. I've had a couple of ppl call and tell me they saw me working and took the number down of the back of my shirt!
:)

Nothing wrong with uniforms as they do make you look more pro.

I don't wear one simply because I don't want to look pro.

Professional.....yes.

It also helps with identification.

People see your name around, ie on van or shirt so identification becomes easier.

Jeans and logo'd polo shirt works for me and doesn't make me feel like a monkey. Changing trousers to something else is just silly.

A unifrom is a good idea even if its just an embroidered polo shirt, its not really about the customers you have, its about potential customers. Businesses with a good image are far more successful than ones with a poor image.

I've thought long and hard about a uniform and in the winter I wear a black jacket (in the summer a light sand-brown safari jacket) with breast pockets and gold and red insignia on the collar and lapels with gold epaulettes on the shoulders. I did think about a tie but thought that being in a nominally christian country I went for a small cross made of iron instead.

Then I thought about a logo and went for a black cross on a white circle on a red armband but thought that the cross was a bit reminiscent of the iron cross I was already wearing and so I extended the arms of the cross at right-angles.

I wanted plenty of pockets so went for black jodhpurs tapering into long black leather boots.
I wear a black belt with a holster on one side for money and scrim, but this is hidden by a 9mm luger automatic pistol which seems to put off would be muggers. (I know the Walther and Mauser jam less often but this is really for deterrent purposes only)

Gloves are light grey suede leather which are also useful for slapping the cheek of other window cleaners when I challenge them to to a duel. The ceremonial sword I leave in the half-track errr... van as it kept getting tangled in my hose.

Finally, for sun protection I wear a peaked cap (like blakey in On the Buses but with a bit of white rope at the front with a silver deaths head in the middle) and my monocle is photochromatic as I don't want to hurt my eyes.

Hope this helps ...
