As we are all a charitable bunch how about a charity football match ;D It could be carpet cleaners North V's South. We could seek out some main sponsors from our main suppliers and manufacturers as well as individual sponsership, we would also benefit from our local papers showing an interest so free advertising as well as the general public seeing us cc's as the decent chaps we all are ;D. I know Steve does some great work for cancer research so perhaps he could offer advice on how best to do it and I'm sure someone has contacts who could get the use of a decent pitch.
What do you think??
Paul
P.S I'll take central midfield :)
-
It sounds like a great idea, but would I be allowed to play!
-
My colleague Roy Pardoe was a Professional linesman and referees in lower leagues, I am sure he would officiate the game.
-
I would play in the Vinnie Jones position ;D
Need plenty of notice for dates so don't clash with holiday.
Tanning more important than tackling, got to show off my St.George flag thong somewhere :P
-
Lee,
Of course you can play :) Any of the guys from the two CC forums are welcome, it would be great if your mate could referee.
Its rolling subs chaps so being old or lazy isnt a very good excuse, then again we will need two managers :)

I think Len Gribble would be a fantastic manager for the south. No-nonsense attitude. I just hope the south are winning at half time, imagine the teamtalk!

Hi Guys,
I'll cut up the oranges and arange the jugs in the bar ;D
Far to old to run around though.
Cheers,
Doug
-
Doug, The ladies behind the bar may object to you fiddling with their jugs :o
ps. I may be better off in goal, stay out of trouble and don't get told off for punching ::)
-
Chris,
They never used to ;)
As goalie you're only allowed to punch the ball ::)
Cheers,
Doug
-
Looks like its me taking all the southern softies on by myself ::)
-
Only allowed to punch the ball................ well it's a start.
-
I'm far to old and far to lazy ;) But as i'm in the midlands i could sort out the venue. One thing that you have to bear in mind is that if its in the summer you could probably get it aranged for a Saturday, but obviosly not in the football season. I was just thinking because, the amount of interest may decline if people have travel down for a night, and lose two days work!!

Hi Geoff
I think that your right on Par there.
I can put the blood pressure tablets away now. ;D
We can still do it for charity.... Now about a childrens hospice ?????
Better still lets adopt a childrens hospice and make it our main charity ??? Come on lads lets do something good (feel nice factor) for a change.
We could hold say two events a year like this and I'm sure that we could get some sponsorship from main dealers and hold a raffle at the evening dinner.
It's just where you would what to hold it at .... ....???????
One event up north/Midlands and the other one down South that that keeps everybody happy. (That would be a first).
Comments please.
Regards Kevin.

Hi Kevin,
All good ideas :) I do have a set of clubs but I'm not much of a golfer :P
It would be good if we could still play football aswell ;D
A 10:30 kick off followed by a bbq then golf in the afternoon, we could then have a meal, raffle etc in the evening.
I'm sure we could generate a few thousand between us for a worthy cause :)

Great idea but again will you get the support to make it happen? Remember a lot of people on here are past the big 40 bracket, so expecting them to play a game of football and then go do a round of golf in one day is a bit daunting. :P
If it were a weekend that we arranged, we could get together on a Friday night for a drink and a meal, Saturday at say 11am football, the afternoon at our leisure. Saturday night beer and Skittles, and then up bright and early for a 7am Tee off on Sunday morning. Then maybee a game of Darts in a pub with a Buffet, and the awards of the compertition with a prize for the winning team. :D

Do you think its possible to get sponsors to play golf??
Paulb
-
Hi Paul/Ian
ALL these companys that try to sell thier goods to us thoughout the year then it's a go marketing ploy for them FREE of charge to get their names in first, and there hands in their pockets. If say we only played nine holes of golf they could sponser a hole with their name on it. I'm shaw that we could get nine companys to cough up.
Then one main one to sponser the footie match. (this would be interesting to see who came up first for both).
Then a BBQ in the evening. If it was done on a Saturday then everyone could then take it easy on the Sunday, I think that way you would get more of a family turn out.
Regards Kevin (just a thought)
ps I can get my hands on two large BBq's

Hi again
I will even put myself forward to be chef for the day.
I'll start the ball rolling.
Regads Kevin

I'll play if Chris Strakers playing, I'll kick is head in. :o
Why don't we all get together for a good fight, Im sure there would be more northerners up for that, we'll kick you soft southern wimps into orbit.
Granted Mike Holliday did break my nose an fracture my wrist during the recent Prochem training day, that fight was good and was well hosted by everyone at Prochem.
What did you guys use to get rid of all that blood from the car park? as far as I can remember it turned in to a blood bath when the Bolton boys joined in!! :o
We all then congregated round at Kens house for Cuddles and Scrabble followed by Corned Beef Hash, a great end to a fantastic day. WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED.
I am currently thinking of hosting a FREE training day, if anyone is interested and comes along please remember one important house rule..... PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE WIFE!!
8:30am - 9:00am / Morning welcome, Tea, Coffee and Garribaldis.
9:00am - 11:00am / This Morning, Trisha and Bargain Hunt.
11:00am - 11:15am / Principles and practices of doormat cleaning.
11:15am - 12.00am / Main Meal - Bacon, Egg, Sausage, Hash browns, Eggy Bread, Tomatoes, Beans, Bubble and squeak, Toast served on a side platter along with tea and coffee.

12.00pm - 1.45pm / Fosters larger and a Garden brawl involving all of us. Please keep to the back garden, dont want the neighbours to see.

Hi Guys,
It would be nice if we could make this work with just carpet cleaners and get our main suppliers to be our main sponsors, but with the limited interest we may have to open it up to the rest of the forum.
I just watched a friend of mine play in a charity match between two braches of his insurance firm, It worked well and raised a fair amount of money for a good cause.
Quite a few of the guys were getting on a bit so there's no excuse fella's!! rolling subs (not litterally ;D ) will help avoid too much discomfort.
I will put the first one hundred pounds into the sponsorship pot to get things going :)
