Title: Excelent new Upholstery tool
Post by: nevil on May 20, 2009, 12:48:50 pm
Although I mentioned this on another thread I thought it merrited a thread of it's own.

Got myself a new tool last week. It's a closed spray type. I have always used an open spray type. Or one with a gaurd to prevent overspray. In my ignorance I have carried on using these types since the begining 4 years ago. I always thought one day I may go for a Drimaster or maybe a CFR when I eventually upgrade.

Last friday I used the new tool on a badly trashed suite. Thick with grease and heavy soil all over the facing areas. The job took about 2.5 hours and the first sofa was dry in most areas before I left the house. And no I didn't use the Turbo dryer. Looking back I am ashamed that I have left it so long before being able to give this type of great service to my customers.

I can't compare this tool with the HM or CFR ones as I have never used them but I really didn't think those types of drying times were possible without paying 4-500 pounds.

I have never really enjoyed cleaning upholstery but I think I may start warming to it. :)

I use the tool with a truckmount and noticed that when the tool is away from the surface being cleaned the spray does not make it out the end of the tool. Instead it is pulled back up through the waste pipe by the flow of air. Once the air flow is restricted by the surface of the item being cleaned the force of the spray is powerfull enough to overcome the reduced airflow and reach the surface. I have yet to try it with the porty but I would think results will be very similar. I reckon I will have to work at a lower pressure as the porty will produce less flow of air when restricted, making it easier for the spray to overcome this flow.

One very happy cleaner.

I bought from Nick at Solution. I think it's made by Duraclean. 110 plus the vat. Very pleased with it.

I used a PMF one exactly the same for years, they are vey good but I found the jet a little bit hard to clean if it got blocked

I have 1 of them, changed the leaking valve, and it hasn`t worked since. Water keeps hitting the edge, instead of being between the lips, with no vac on. Gave up on it.

Gary this tool is a bit strange because it doesn't have an actual jet but a bent tube with a hole in the end, if you alter the valve then the bar can get misaligned, might be worth checking.

I bought the same tool from solutions and tried it with a prochem powermax and it was terrible, there was very little solution reaching the fabric at all!! In fairness this may be due to the powermax s psi not being high enough, but i will put this to the test when i use it with the truck mount im picking up tomorrow ;D ;D ;D

Solutions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sell hoses, Woodbridge hoses are pants IMO, I like Chemspecs that's my favourite as it's more flexible and doesn't crack and lasts longer but it isn't the cheapest short term, Hydramster sell some good pressure hose.

That's the one Mike.

Agree it's not going to be the easiest to clean. I use an inline filter to catch anything before it gets the the wand/tool, so hopefully it won't be an issue.
