my geographical position sucks as i live in alittle town/village with my two main centres of business either side of me in the two bigger towns (where my advertising is centered) . I find i get a good response in these two towns but i am forever being asked where abouts are you based due to my area code. would it be worth me buying a couple of numbers one for each town to use in the adverts i use there do you think this would increase interest as the perception of being local.
if yes what sort of good deals are out there for numbers

Personally I think having a local number SHOULD get you more enquiries.
I find people want to use local businesses for different reasons ie support the local community, peace of mind if things go wrong etc.

I have one number with the latter and two with the former - no problem with either so far, just like trying different ones.

I know there's a guy in the North East who has 5 sets of different local phone numbers from different parts of the region.... It's something to look into Rich....

Or maybe try an 0800 number. Might be cheaper depending on your circumstances.

Supose it does mater what area your in richard..

Do your homework first.
I have 3 x 0800's but I would swap them for local numbers only if I could chose the right numbers, people like local STD numbers AND they also check the first 2 numbers of the telephone number to see where in the area they come from.

done bit of home work on it my work has been centred in these two towns as where i live the std code covers a huge area and i am just on he outskirts of the code i want to be in. and being a county of the older more old fashioned generation they like local. i dont feel i would be misleading because it takes me 15 min to drive to the centre where i want the std and it takes me 35 min to drive to the centre of where my std code covers.

I use Daisy Comms for my 0800 number and it goes straight to my mobile. Costs around 14p a min (cost 18p just to transfer from BT as well as 6p for previous supplier.)
