Q 1 - If you encap clean what chem are you using ?
Q 2 - There's a product called releasit which is currently only sold in the states and Australia, they rave about the stuff and it's a genuine encap chemical i.e. dries to a crystal unlike some I've tried. I've spoken to the supplier and if we can get enough interest we can buy a pallet load and have it shipped over.
Anyone not familiar with encap these are some photos I've just grabbed off the encap forum site: encapboard.com

I believe Chemspec supply an excellent encap product and there are several others
-
Hi Paul
As you know I have the Cimex too.
Would love to try these products as they good revues in the states (I do visit the encap forum every so often).
I dont think I could go halves, thirds or even quarters of what a pallet would cost though.
Shame really - need a dealer in the UK to pick it up and run with it. One who could market it nationally. What the logistics for one to do this is - I dont know.
-
well , i would be interested in either sharing a pallet or a supplier dealing
how much would a pallet be ?

Prochem do an excellent product for encap and they also supply a machine. I have had really good results with this chemical as opposed to microsplitting and is extremely quick.

I spoke to guy from craftex , last year.
he did say he they would look into producing their own encap product, doesnt look as if it was fruitful ,not heard any thing.
I was hoping as all of there products are reasonable price and do the job.

Joe / Geoff
I think we need a few more on board to get a pallet over here, are we the only encap users on this forum ?? ???
Rick was keen to speak to any dealers who are interested in stocking there Releasit range of products. I'm up for a campaign to get a supplier stocking the releasit range.
On the encap forum they say to do a simple test to see if a product is truly an encapsulating chemical, just place a drip on a saucer and leave it overnight, if it dries brittle, i.e. crysalises then it's good, I'd be interested to know if your 2 chems do this Joe.

How much is a pallet? is he offering a supplier style discount?
Shaun
-
I'll put the question to him Shaun / Geoff and post the answer.
Paul
-
perhaps ask how many containers and how much is in, 5 litres or 1 us gallon.
Shaun
-
I'll chip in on a big order.
-
Has anyone tried Releasit here? and would it not be better to buy a case of it first to see if it performs to your expectations before investing in a pallet load.?
-
:Dhi ,i have not long ago bought cimex 48 , will chip in to buy part pallet, must admight brill machine, just love giving costomers demo wish i got one years ago, one i got was minted, only year old ,saved me small fortune :'(

Just an update for all who were interested in the releasit range:
Got this reply to my e-mail :
Hi Paul,
A 55 gallon drum would be the cheapest way to get Releasit to you. Then you could off load it into smaller containers on your end. The other option would be 4 gallon cases. (These are all US gallon sizes - we're to dumb for metric on this side of the pond)
The absolute best and most cost effective way to get Releasit is to go with Encap-Clean DS. This is a 4 oz per gallon product. It's highly cost effective to work with. And it cleans incredibly well too.
As far as costs for shipping, Beth in our office will have to crunch the numbers for you to find the least costly way to ship you either a pallet of 36 cases, or a 55 gallon drum. Beth takes care of all our international shipments. I am forwarding this request to Beth. She will be out of the office till Tuesday. But she will get on this first thing when she gets in. Her direct e-mail address is beth@excellent-supply.com Beth will get you discounted pricing on a 36 case pallet, and discounted pricing on a 55 gallon drum; as well as the most affordable shipping rates.
I look forward to working with you and helping you get the BEST encap detergent rolling on your side of the pond.
Kind Regards,
Rick Gelinas
***** I'll post again when the prices come through

Okay you talked me into it ;D,
I will chip in too Paul.

Paul
Looks like a fair few are interested in this so count me in as interested depending on the costs.
The reports on the encap website are really good and I am always ready to try some "new" stuff.

LATEST NEWS
Just waiting some shipping quotes now.
Product price below:
1-55 gallon drum of Releasit DS is $1249 - 1 US gallon is 3.78 ltrs over here, so that's a touch under 208 ltrs per drum, I make that about £774GB at the current exchange rate for a 208ltr drum, which if my maths is correct equates to approx £3.72 per litre. (Shipping to add)
If we take 2 or more drums the price is discounted to $1169 per drum (£724GB)
Below is the rate for a pallet load, but I believe the drums are the most cost effective method.
1- pallet of 36 cases or more (4 US gallons in each case) of Releasit DS is $4,320.00, $120 each case. Plus shipping.
As stated above I'm still awaiting shipping costs - will post again soon.
**** IF ANYBODY ELSE IS INTERESTED IN CHIPPING IN WITH AN ORDER PLEASE REPLY HERE ****
If you haven't heard of the product before, basically its for use with a cimex or rotary style machine and it works by encapsulating the dirt within the solution which then crystalises (encapsulates) the dirt which is then routinely vacuumed up. Very popular in USA and Australia but as yet no UK supplier.

Prices for shipping as follows:
By sea freight
the price on sending two drums of Releasit on one skip/pallet with the weight of 1050 pounds Ocean Freight would approximately be $975 ( Approx £592GB ) Approximate transit time, 32 days.
By air freight
1 DRUM. 550lb class 55. 0.00 0.00. UPS Air Freight Consolidated. Transit time: 3-5 business days pending customs. Price doesn't
include duties, taxes or destination charges.
Door to Port (our warehouse to the Derby, East Midlands Air Port). $735 ( Approx £443GB ) 3-5 working days.
As you can see this does not include import taxes, not sure what you guys think but to make it worthwhile we could do with one of the suppliers placing an order. Who's well in with a supplier, lets put some pressure on. :)
Paul
-
I like to try some too so put me down please.
Also what about a spotter to with it. ;)
-
I have a gut feeling that this may be a waste of time and money. I hate to urinate on anyone's potato fries, but encap cleaning is very dated technology. I used to use it, but there are now better options in the detergent-free market, in terms of both cleaning ability and ease of use.
-
Jim your arguments is flawed on in 2 areas, 1) that dated technology is no longer effective, a 1000yrs go they threw rugs in rivers and saturated them to get them clean, this dated technology is the basis of rug cleaning today. because its an old method doesn't stop it working.
and secondly you assume there has been no advancement in chemical technology over the last 40yrs. Colloids are 70- 80(ish) yrs old, is the Mpower & Nemisis that is sold today the same technology or has it been advanced?
-
Jim,
I would be really intersted to know what exactly you mean ?
What are the better options in both cleaning ability and ease of use ?
All of my commercial custys are very happy with encap, so show me all of the other options that are easier, give instant results and can earn me the money I can earn with encap ,then i will sit up and take note!!
As for dated technoligy, you will find that over the recent few years ,encap solutions have improved vastly perhaps you should go back to using .

Had an e mail from Beth today, she has found a better deal for shipping costs, this would be delivered to a London airport.
Cost £371 for 2 x 208ltr drums.
Are any parties interested or is this a dead duck.

Hi Paul, out of interest, do you know the difference between a Cimex R38 and the R48.
Andrew
-
Hi Andrew
The R38 is the smaller machine ( far end in the pic ) with 15" ( I think ) cleaning diam.
Paul
-
Thanks Paul, where could i source pads/ brushes etc, as i have just picked up an R38 second hand,
Andrew
-
Hi Andrew
Truvox in Southampton are the importers so you will get them from their.
I got some stuuf for mine from Cleaning Systems UK, Cupar, KY15 4RD.

Paul I'm still interested, but the logistics are going to be a nightmare how do we decanter it into separate containers?
I'll buy one of the 208lt drums. (Geoff W will probably want half of it from me)
can a carrier pick it up from the airport?
-
Joe
Do you still use your then on larger commercial ???
cheers
-
Thats what its best at Clinton.
Too big for domestic jobs.
-
Hi Mike
I know what your saying about splitting the drums and the other thing I'm worried about is excise duties, I haven't got a clue on the costs that may be added.
Is there a supplier, with the know how, that might be willing to take an order if those of us showing an interest commited to purchasing _ _ ltrs each ? alternatively someone with know how of excise duties etc for some guidance.
Paul
-
Paul
Cant get me head around all the figures - like what does it work out at per ? so we can compare to other encap products on the market.
Duties are a concern.
but also if a dealer got involved then the price would go up a lot - they have to make a living too.
I would love to try the stuff, but its looking a bit iffy from my position.
If I did loads of encapping - yeah great, but I dont so my volumes/usage is low.
-
Well there's nothing like joining a conversation that has been going on for quite a long time!
Maybe I can help...
Up until March this year I was National Sales Manager for Truvox International, the manufacturers (not importers) of the Cimex range of equipment.
I now run my own company which both supplies machines and accessories, and also undertakes some contracting work.
The Cimex CR48 was the machine that was the platform for the Cimex-Encap system that the company launched in late 2005 after seeing the success of the system in the US.
Encapsulation cleaning had developed exceptionally well in the States over the previous few years and Rick Gelinas was a major player in developing this, albeit he was (only) a distributor of the sole US importer of the Cimex range.
The key to encapsulation cleaning is the combination of the right machine (one that delivers a high level of clean and very high productivity versus traditional extraction cleaning) and the right chemical (one that crystallizes and doesn't leave any sticky residue).
Whilst I think the idea of importing product is admirable there are many other factors to consider such as where to store the product, the re-bottling of it in to 5 litre containers, import taxes, and who is going to take on the responsibility for all this work. I can assure you it is much harder than you might think.
The easiest option for all interested parties is to go with the best product for this system on the market, one that was actually developed for use with Cimex machines (and other applications too) and that is Cimex-Encap carpet cleaner. This is a US made product that has been on the market here in the UK since 2005, although I am guessing from the lack of knowledge that it hasn't been particularly well marketed!!!
If anyone is interested I am able to supply the product in more easy to use quantities, i.e. 4 x 5 litres and there is a spotter available too in 6 x 1 litre cases.
List prices as follows:
Cimex-Encap carpet cleaner (4 x 5 litres) - £131.25
Cimex-Encap carpet spotter (6 x 1 litres) - £42.42
If I get 6 or more orders I will discount the above prices by 20%, so the carpet cleaner will be just £105.00 for 4 x 5 litres which equates to £5.25 per litre.
Prices plus VAT and carriage (£17.50 per consignment).
We can also supply brushes for use with CR38 and CR48 machines and Cimex-Encap pads for carpet cleaning (available for CR48 machines only).
Let me know if you're interested.

Simon

well I,m certainly interested in some encap in the near future ,
how much for a set of brushes for the r48 ? and do you supply the plastic distributers that attach to the inner of the brushes ? I,m desperate for some of those.
personaly , I,m not a great lover of the pads they seem to distort quite easily , dont last any length of time much prefer the brushes on all surfaces.

-
Geoff,
The diffusers are not available as a separate spares replacement item as they only come supplied fitted to the shampoo brushes.
The shampoo brushes for the CR48 are priced at £72.50 for a set of 3 (+ £8.95 carriage). All prices plus VAT.
I have also had a separate email regarding the Cimex-Encap chemical so I now have two expressions of interest. Am happy for another couple and I will supply the product less the 20% discount offered.
Simon
-
I'm only interested in Releasit, most in the states agree it's the best.
Re Cimex machine, I guess those clever chemist optimised a formula that worked best with three brushes. That's very clever indeed. ;D
-
There is little difference between Releasit and Cimex-Encap...
Say no more...
-
Simon,
I do find it hard to believe that the plastic middles only come when purchasing a set of brushes :'(
they simply click on and of and are not fitted in any way to the brushes, the fact is that these plastic parts are always breaking and imo is a flaw in the design excellent though the machine is.
what you are saying infact is I need to purchase a set of brushes every time I break or lose a small plastic disc.

Could be some secret meeting Geoff ;) Have you soemething to tell us.

Spot on Joe :o

As for the plastic diffusers in the Cimex shampoo brushes, I think it is just a way for the supplier to maximise revenue by not supplying the diffusers separately.
I am looking in to this and will advise more.

I have had a couple of enquiries for the Cimex-Encap chemical.
Can anyone who wants to order it please email me on simoncollins68@hotmail.co.uk by Monday (if poss) as I have a delivery due in on Tuesday.

I've been using my 'Mex; for about four years now down under.
I disagree that they are to big to be used in domestic houses.
They are easy as.
I can walk mine into a walk in robe, stand the handle upright, close the door and clean the carpet behind the door without any problem.
I have made modifications to mine in that I have removed the smaller wheels and replaced them with larger pneumatic wheels.
I regularly take "Big Yella" up four flights of stairs.
Now before anyone thinks I'm a muscleman, I'm 64+, stand 5'6&1/2 and weigh sixteen stone.
I'm also in a good shape.
Pear is a good shape. ;D
I have also put on an on/off switch instead of using the lever that is supplied.
One other mod; I have cut the cord to a short length and use appropriate length extension cords instead.
I do a lot of high rise lift lobbies where I only need a fifteen foot cord, pretty stupid having fifty foot of cable laying on the floor when it's not needed.
For commercial work where we have no air con; or fans, the Cimex is king.
I also use Releasit DS along with their other products.
Hope this helps.
Ooroo,
Shorty.
::)
-
Hi Shorty
Was it easy to do the wheel conversion?
-
Very easy.
Bought the wheels, about 10" in diameter.
The inner hubs were slightly smaller than the standard axle on the Cimex, so I took them to an engineering shop where they reamed them out to size.
The silver hub caps can be prised off with two large screwdrivers, coming down from the top, one on each side of the axle.
(The hubcaps have a tension spring inside of them and are easily put back on when the new wheel is on.)
Once the caps are of, the wheels are pulled off and the new ones put on, then the hubcaps replaced.
I do not run my tyres with full pressure, but about 2/3, this allows the wheels to flex over the step edge.
Also, being larger, they don't get caught up under any steps that may have bullnose edging.
I'll try and post some pics for you.

My wheels are made by Fallshaw.
Try to source them from material handling stores, disabled stores such as those that sell wheel chairs, also some sports stores with pull along golf buggies.
Some people comment that the big wheels puts the Cimex off balance, this is not true as the Cimex has a floating head that compensates for all wheel heights within reason.
Hope this helps.
Ooroo,
Shorty.
-
Thanks shorty.
Obviously going to make going up stairs a lot easier, but generally easy maneuverability too.
Notice you have pads on.
Do you prefer the pads or the brushes, or do you use both?
-
Hi Joe, I'm ambidextrous. ;D
Depends on what it is I'm to clean.
Most time I use the normal beige pads.
For trashed or filthy places I will use the grey Max pads.
When doing Oriental rugs I tend to use the soft brushes, unless it is an el-cheapo olefin or hs poly; in which case I will use the beige pads.
Using the brushes I find you tend to use more juice, so the job costs more in solution, thus breaking the profit down.
I have no hard and fast rules, whatever I think will do the best job is what I will use, and if I am not happy with the result, I will swap over.
I have also used Big Yella to scrub the carpet with a pre-spray then hwe'ed with either my RX-20 or wand on extremely trashed places where the carpet has needed to be restored.
Cheers,
Shorty.
