Hi all
Can anyone recommend a product to use on a limestone kitchen floor. A new client has tried various off the shelf cleaning products and it has stained it quite badly. I suspect its beyond hope but thought I'd see if anyone on here knows anything. Will it need sanding down/repolishing?
We just used boiling water to clean it last week but its really grubby so could do with something to bring it up better without staining it further if can't fix the original staining.
Cheers

You need to use a deep stone cleaner, mix it per instructions apply it and scrub it with a rotary scrubber and let it dwell for 10-15 Min's then use a wet vac to remove it. It may need a couple of goes....You will need to wash it with plenty of water to remove any of the cleaner. Then it will need re-sealing. The most common problem due to it getting grubby is that it wasn't sealed properly during installation.

Many thanks
I think I'm going to print out some info for them and suggest they 'get someone in'!

If they've used 'off the shelf' cleaners they may well have used Cilit Bang or something else similarly acidic and etched it. In that case all they can realistically do is re-hone the whole floor, which isn't cheap.

I'm not a great fan of lithofin products...you just need to know how to approach these jobs when cleaning natural stone, and having the experience as to know about sealing stone etc. I looked at a marble floor 35 sqm last week customer had it cleaned about 3 weeks ago by a cleaner and its really dirty again, i did a pH test on the floor with litmus paper and the pH was far to high as the wrong cleaner had been used. There is allot more to know about natural stone than people realise, and using wrong cleaning methods can cause damage.
