Title: What lets you down?
Post by: ian richards on April 21, 2005, 09:51:51 pm
If there was one thing that you wished you could better your self on within this industry what would it be? I want everyone to put there cards on the table and own up the their faults ??? ??? YES, thats right, what do you fall down on within this industry? Can't you be bothered to clean along the skirting board with a hand tool or clean the back of Upholstery, what is it????? In plain English..... what lets you down???

Hi,

I've often thought that I market effectively to new customers BUT not very well to existing.

I have solved this by employing a lovely lady at £10 / hour to mailmerge etc.

As we're related by marriage hopefully what I lose on the swings I'll gain on the .........

Cheers

Doug

Marketing, keeping databases updated, giving the customer more info on how to care for their carpets, shaving every morning, washing the van more often, spending time on that coffee stain to at least try and improve it more.

Over all my biggest let down would be advanced stain removal because I've never actually sat down and studied it and experiemented with it.  Will start all of the above tomorrow...............

I know its wrong but If a toilet has yellow urine stains on the carpet around the base I give up on it straight away, I just know I can't remove it.

Cant think of any others, I dont often cut corners, makes me feel very guilty.

LAST year , whilst going through a divorce, liquidation, father having a stroke, helping a fellow carpet cleaner, who had his van stolen.
I lent this individual my van, a bane machine vac etc, all free for 3 months , he bought the van ....very cheap as i felt sorry for him ,   he took ages to pay for it, the van was taxed  tested all serviced, I handed him the documents and he assured me that he would send them to the DVLA  --he did not , niether did he tax the van and I am now faced with a 100 fine from DVLA ,,,, I will tyrack you down and collect, makes you cynical and lets me down. GRRRRRRR.....

Sorry Paul
Unfortunately I also suffer from procrastination. Will go through my messages and get everything to people that asked. Robert will contact anyone who wanted the free stuff at the MK day soon with a date for the conference call with myself Fluffy Walker and Dave Cox. He has struggled to pin us down on a date because we have been away on a training course in America. If anyone else would like in on the conference call let me know and I will see if Robert can increase the numbers.
Martin :)
