Can anyone let me know if i need to register my trading name as a sole trader with companies house ??? ??? ???

No only limited companies register with Companies House, but you have to register as self-employed with the Inland Revenue.

If you dont register with the Inland Revenue within 3 months,  i think, its £100 fine :(

Sorry mate, as a sole trader you have no exclusivity to your trading name. If someone moves in on your patch using the same name, theres nothing you can do about it, except sue him IF you can PROVE financial loss. As has happened to me in recent years, I just had to ingnore him and hope he'd go away.
