I received my new sl brush today from Gardiner's only ordered yesterday got it today that was a good start
well oh my god it is very light I can not believe it I will now begin trails with this brush all week to see how
it holds out with hot water this is something Alex has asked me to try and I will post as many pics as poss
to show the pros and good points. On first look its like a mini tucker and a bit lighter well a lot lighter in fact
I will do some pics to show you
-
ok here are some pics but remember the Tucker is 3 years old and SL brush is new
-
the Tucker has stood the test of time so will the SL ?
-
how much ? if you dont mind me asking?
-
this is just a view pressing on the van window something the custys might see well with some water obviously!!
-
The SL brush is a lot easier to work with IMO,the Tucker dosen`t always go where you want it to go.
-
SL is the top one
how much ?? have a look on Gardiners site
-
Im with you on that one lol
-
NWH do you have hot??
-
NWH do you have hot??
yes he has the varitech add on.
-
Yes i have hot water.
-

for the better or worse ?
-
My superlight brushes didn't fare well with Hot water. The Dual trim lasted a lot longer than the single trim tho,.. it only deformed badly when I did a really bad conservatory clean and turned the heat up to max. I still think the Superlights are the best brush I've ever use for cold.
I've a tucker brush now,.. but its a lot heavier. :(

Did you not have the first version of the SL though?

you can see the Tucker is still loving the hot hot water without any damage 3 years ain't bad

who sells the tuker brush
-
Tuckers are £50 ish and you get them at www.aquafactorsdirect.co.uk.
They also appear to have them at www.omnipole.com £36.00

im hoping that the SL is going to work out it is light but on fisrt impressoins the Tucker has more
scrubbing middle sections that seem quite a lot stiffer bristles, the out side ones are softer where as the SL brush
seems to have the same bristles all over just shorter in the smaller middle section ? Alex would be the one to answer
this question ?

The only real test is to use it. I personally rate this new dual trim as the best monofilament we have produced so far. It will be interesting to see how you get on with it, especially with hot water.

I have to say the duel trim flocked is far better than the first superlite brushes you had with mono, so far I am well please with it.

I also find the flocked version to be my favourite, but for those who like rinsing on this new one is very close in its ability.

can not wait to try it but dam well raining to much lol hoping it clear up a bit
-
is the tuker so heavey be cors of the aly bit on the back ??????????

i rinsed on with the flocked duel trim on a large job, no problmes at all thank god, I thought better to test on a large job than a little one ;D

Took it off mine,.. still V heavy. :(
-
Must be the bristles then? The stock itself doesn't seem very heavy? Heck from the pictures it looks thinner then the SL!
Or does it hold a lot of water?
-
im sorry can not see this weight prob the tucker is perfect in all ways except price
that why i was looking for something cheaper as we need 6 brushes that's why i want too try the SL
the Tucker is so good that we use it up and down and NEVER had a problem unlike most brushes for spotting or not getting in corners if you now what i mean but weight is not a problem at all maybe im hard lol after all im 6 feet and 16 stone
I just want the SL to work with hot and last that's all
-
I'm interested to know what you think of the two brushes, especially how much lighter the brush will be. Going to work tomorrow and trying them out?
-
so far im impressed with the SL although it doe's feel like a....... dare I say it ( toy )
brush from a child's toy box!! sorry but it is so light ,.....it did get some snail trails
off without any effort so time will tell if it will last I will do some pics when it stops raining but overall this could be the one!!
Its light and takes the effort out of some jobs like over con roofs where you have
to lean the pole over and with a Vikan brush on this can be painful but is much
easier with SL
-
I had the toy thought when i first saw it but that soon went after seeing how light it was and how well it cleans, other brushes look huge now when i see 1.
-
ok nearly a week later and im impressed I'll do some pics on SAT to show progress lol
-
I'm thinking about copying you edd, i've got one but never used it. You are right about over cons etc, this is the main reason i buy a new 17'xtel every 3mths because i overextend and fracture a section.
I had a bad experience with a bentley once, but if this guy is to go on improving and taking imput from people like you then why shouldn't it become the standard.
It would be a nice gesture if fleet terms were available.(four brushes and over)

How about a free pen.............
-
The gardiners mark1 supalite brush was a bentley but the new one is like getting off a moped and onto a harley.
-
My friend bought a harley in his fifties, he's not a big chap. When he pulled into his local service station for some petrol for his new purchase he had the helmet and the three hundred pound leather jacket that says harley davidson on the back.Unfortunatley, what he did not have was the leg strenght to support his bike once it was stationary and it keeled over with him sitting on it becuase he had had no idea how heavy it was.
So, like getting off a moped and onto a harley was probably not the best of analogies for a supalite, but that's not to say that crawling per se is a bad strategy and has obviously stood you in good stead thus far.
-
my bro was well chuffed with the weight and performance of the sl brush but we are frightend to turn the hot water on we dont want to ruin it.
-
now wer torking freee pensssssssssss 8) 8) 8) 8)

-
some pics some slight distortion on some bristles with the hot but its holding up so far ( early days )
-
this was after a real bad spidery job you know the ones lol
-
today I put the Tucker brush back on and could hardly lift the pole up so did one house and changed it back umm
-
I would like to thank Alex this really is a good around brush, its very light ,gets in all the corners and
get the spider spots from hell!! off without too much trouble . I still prefer the Ionic brush for downstairs
but this might change as its got more weight behind it and a lot more bristles so I can press harder on the
stubborn stuff but the SL brush is as good as it gets imo bad points not many: too light for windy days as
its harder to hold up as it blows about whereas a heavier brush goes straight to the window but this really
is nothing!!
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BRUSH WELL DONE MR. G....................................... ;) ;)
-
I must have an old one, the stock is different on mine!
-
trust me this brush is worth buying if you want an easier life??

If you need a downstairs brush use a flocked SL,you`ll bin the Ionic 1.
-
SL Brush is good hot or cold.
Only snipe.............it could do with more bristles in the stock and a domestic one made with a larger stock (width, not length) so it glides across glass easier when rinsing 'brush on' glass at lower heights where weight isn't an issue but scrubbing effort is.

Haha, that made me laugh, so true though!

Now all we need is a sl sill brush ;)
-
is alex going to make an sl sill brush?
I thought he was designing one :-\
not seen anything on there site.

Any chance of getting some rubber casing to go round the stock?

There is a chance.....on which brushes were you thinking about it?

That is a good idea. I like the dual trim, but i am pretty bad for running it down the brickwork, hence after a while the bristles on the edges start to fall out.
-
This is a good thread because it pushes our knowledge a bit further about making the job easier and better. The thread about van ports, and my own thread about two man working and professional reels were in a similar vein.I just wish more people had an input- on my own thread i was virtually talking to myself. Yet someone posts a daftie and it's riposte away.email sent ;D
-
I have to say the flocked version is rather nice too and works very well on guttering. I would have preferred white bristles so I could see what's in there but never mind.
I also use it for minging first cleans' followed by the second pass with the dual trim mono.
-
If you use it for minging cleans you wouldn`t want it in white believe me,i prefer them all to be in black i think it looks better and the customer can`t see when it`s full of cobwebs etc.
-
Just saw the picture of the brush, the stock has had a little shaving there! Every bit helps I suppose. Shame mine doesn't have it. Maybe the next one I will get with the Super Max will be even lighter. :)
-
i've been using two s/l d/t flocked (one fan jet, one pencil) for about 2 months at 40°.
no distortion as yet, the best brush I have ever used. better than the mono filament imo as I usually rinse off the glass. i'd guess about twice as much scrubbing power :D

I rinse on the glass with my flocked sl and have had no probs
-
ive been using the d/t flocked for about 6 mnths now, and i think its gr8, best brush ever, but using hot its gone all over the place, with regards to keepin its shape.

It might be the old model Dual Trim, the improved model has got a very different feel to it, much better brush. :)

The NEW Dual Trim is an AWESOME Brush !! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Fully agree, I wanted one brush that does it all, and this one is it!

are we talking flocked or mono here
-
That's the mono, the first revision was on the market before there was a flocked one. It lacked scrubbing power, so it was optimized by gardiners. You could call that the Superlite v1.2. :)
-
ive got the mono d/t as well, the flocked is better imo, doesnt like hot though.

I rinse on the window, so I'm not going to be comfortable with doing that with a flocked brush. It will scrub better though, I plan on getting a flocked for everything apart from glass. A mono just doesn't cut it on some jobs.
-
If you want 1 brush from the SL range that does everything on 1 pole i would go for the flocked version.

So your rinsing on then with a flocked brush? Does that work for you? :)
-
Nearly all my work is clean most times so the flocked brush i get away with i just use more water,i prefer the flocked on bottoms so i tend to keep it on the 1 pole for tops and bottoms most of the time.
