Morning everyone,
I am new to the site and industry, so was hoping you may be able to give me some advice.
I am considering taking on a Round Building Company to get going and was wondering if there were any recommendations or warnings ?
These companies are on the Window Cleaning Resources webiste, are these any good ?
http://www.doorknockers-gb.com/
http://www.lcedar.com/
http://www.roundbuilders.com/
http://skochymarketing.com/
I am based in Leeds, so I am looking to set up a round in the West Yorkshire area.
Any advice would be grateful.
Regards
Kris P

Kris,
The best advice I can give ya is
1. Get out their & doorknock, as you can see the property, and assess the time you will need to do the job, charge it accordingly, and you need to make this contact so they can see, and hopefully trust you. Leafletting is a waste of time and could get you some bother if not done right. And people do quit quickly sometimes if this happens.
2. Buy a round or two, to give you a reasonable start and income.
Im not convinced by employing people to canvass a round, as its out of your control from day one.

I use roundbuilders, have done for a long while now. But if you have time at the moment as you are starting out, i would suggest you go out door knocking yourself to start with. I did this when i started, i also bought a very small round and just added to it. Just get some flyers printed up, go door knocking and ask if they have a window cleaner, if not give them a price. If nobody is at home, drop a flyer through the door.

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure and got sucked in a little by the claims made. I am just having a little trouble finding rounds for sale in my area. Could you specifically recommend any Round Builders incase I choose to go down this route? ???

it worked for me at the time. it got me earning more and i kind of accepted the cancellation rate at the time, but since employing my own 100% and them doing things my way my cancellation rate has come way down. no silly problems with access etc. and trust me you will get sign ups that just wanted a quote and not the service 100%
Don't listen to the spiel of "I don't understand this hasn't happened to anyone else" and "we always only get a maximum cancellation rate of 15-20 %" because its not true.
i know of others that have experienced the same.
But on the plus side if you need the work and you can put up with the grief then go for it....just buyer beware i guess the message is

Nothing to do with these companies but to be fair to them i have found that 25% of all the work i get cancels for one reason or another. On the plus side 75% stays long term.

I verbally confirm with the customers all work before payment and so far so good , if it is a quote/one off custy will say so at the time
progress report,
Skotchy marketing - still very good / honest
l cedar went out for me tonight and got a decent amount of work £170 monthly still to be confirmed
door knockers not heard from them tried Paul Bass mobile and got a message saying mail box is full! I think that says it all! Needless to say i wont be pursueing Doorknockers :)

What is the quality of the work like so far? Type of prices and the houses you are getting?

Hey Matt3, How are you getting on with Scotchy and Lcedar? How much would you say £500pm quality work is costing you?
