Title: Vertical blinds
Post by: nat1 on May 13, 2009, 09:57:16 pm
Had to go round and price a one-off clean at a house due to council workers making a mess during a re- wire.  Just wondered what the best thing is for cleaning Vertical blinds as there is splashes of plaster on them, i know it turns to dust after a scrub, but if there is any miracle product out there, please let me know....  Ta nat1

Do you mean like office-type blinds? On chains?

A lot will depend on what fabric they are made from.

We're not talking lovere (horizontal) blinds are we?

Hi Vacman, the office type, ummh not sure what there made off, but alot of households have them it's just bits of plaster that have splashed onto them.  Hope this has helped?

Hello Nat

well, they could be made of anything, but probably fabric or plastic.

I put mine in a pillowcase in the washing machine, but i dont reccomend that for a client in case they are ruined.

Hmm, not sure. Hand washing strikes me as being a possible way forward.

Of course the plaster could be the least of the problems, the blinds could well be impregnated with dust, dirt, and grease, especially if they've been hanging in a kitchen. I doubt you'd get away with just cleaning the plaster off.

I will never understand why homeowners dont move things before work starts  ???

Hi Nat

As Vacman says put them in the washing machine. We roll ours up in batches of 5 or 6, tie with string to keep together, put them in a pillow case loosely knotted at the top and do on a delicate wash.
