Title: Vauxhall Vivaro - any good?
Post by: Skyglide on May 11, 2009, 09:56:56 pm
Going to buy one of these vans this week. Bigger engine and load carrying than the standard ones. One owner FSH 03 plate 46K miles. Are they good or should I expect problems?

Gearbox ... superb van but gearbox will go. google vivaro gearbox, you'll see for yourself.

expect problems,  an 03 plate should be just getting ready for gearbox or high pressure fuel pump problems, both very expensive, over £2000 if fuel pump goes.

do your wallet a favour and look around for a good transit

Look at a LDV Maxus.

For £3000 you can pick them up a 05 plate with only 60000 or less milege.

DO NOT TOUCH A VIVARO/PRIMASTAR/TRAFFIC unless you like walking.

these are unbelievably bad vans.

mate has an 05 plate vivaro, gearbox gone on him @ £2000, rear pads and discs over £500 due to complete hub kit being required.

just google them, and you will find nothing but problems with them.

i am looking to buy a similar van, and looking at these options:

relay/boxer/ducato
transit
maxus

thats all. there are older vw transporters out there, but i am a tart and want something slightly newer!
