just got a new r/o system put in van. How do i try to get customers to go over from trad - wfp as need unit to pay for its self
. how many cleans will it take to get rid off spots (tds 000)
. don't wonna loose cusomers due to change
. got some work for wfp need to get some more

If you are doing a good Job then normaly 3 cleans and the windows will come up good, But remember that not all windows take to wfp some will never come up good :'( So for those ones its a trad job or pick up work that is more for WFP ;D

it's very annoying to change from trad to wfp.it's because customers have been used to have their windows clean every time and just after you left.now they have to wait for the windows to dry and when they seen some spots aswell then they won't be happy.i ad quite a few complaints till now after the firts clean and went back and re done the spotted ones .didn't lose any till now but you never now.also customers will want to see the windows after you cleaned them to see how '' system works'' ,some they don't care.but mind that you need nerves of steel for the first to months .good luck ;)

Make sure you use plenty of water on first cleans and a good rinse off, dont be shy with the water.

Just take a bit more time on some glass its not an instant fix, it will get better make sure you get the frames done first time round as dirt can run onto the windows later on and this can cause spotting.

Perhaps start by explaining to them why you are changing over, for safety reasons. Also explain that all the frames get cleaned too. maybe just do upstairs to start with until they see that the windows are just as good as trad, and finally tell them to let you know within 24hrs if there are any probs, which of course you will remedy the next day.Works for me. 8) Syd

if enough time is spent on a new clean it should come up fine, but we all say the same thing it could take 2 or three cleans, we clean twice on any first clean and very rare does a problem happen.

good luck pal, you have a demanding 3 months ahead of you but trust me when i say it will be all worth it in the end, and always remember that some people are impossible too please and are that set in their ways that they wont even humour it, not your fault just find another customer that values your safety.

Best place to start is on your own windows at home. Practice on them this weekend to get a feel for the brush and pole so you are not completely new to it with your 'first' customer on Monday.

Bertie the 2 main areas you need to concentrate on is Keep that TDS reading at 000 and the other is give the window a really good rinse, you will go through water like its out of fashion, but after you have cleaned them all twice it will be alot quicker, therefore you can get more work in. happy day are just around the corner. ;D ;D ;D

personally i know people on here disagree
but it worked for me ( and a few others on here ) with VERY little loss
i just did the upstairs and continued to do the down trad, the customer got used to the idea and then i would do the conservs and hard to reach ( bush's in the way etc ) with WFP, then in the end i went over to WFP completely
i lost 2 houses, 1 just didnt like it, 1 moaned that the grass got wet ( you cannot really count this loss as thats just a idiotic moan )

Beware of the double openers above a large single pane of glass,.. when I first switched to WFP i did really good, except for these! They take a few cleans before they're easy to do,.. but until they come right, clean the top 2 openers and then go away and do another couple of windows before you come back to clean the bottom pane,..
Most custies won't be home or won't ask, so don't tell them,.. carry on like its normal. If you cause a fuss, they'll go looking for marks,..say nothing & they might not notice!
Those that do ask,.. present it like its something that you've wanted for a long time because its BETTER, and now you've finally been able to afford it (emphasise that it cost a fortune!). Mention health and safety as a fringe benefit, but the customer wants to know why its better for them, not why its better for you!

Good job gas fitters don't have that attitude when they are fitting my boiler.

I told my customers that, I had to let a load of work go as I could not get around it all. They all said you wont drop me will you? ;D
Then the next month I told them, that I was going wfp and that would help me to keep everyone happy.
I did not loose one job, a bit of reverse phycology. :o

see mine were different, the fact that i was safe was the BIG selling point to them, the results were not that important, it was the fact that i would be returning home everynight to my family

When we changed over about 5 years ago, I decided to swap parts of my round over at a time, and once that area was converted then I would change another part over.
I felt better doing that, as I wasn't risking my whole round in one go, it also meant that I did not have to wfp every day at the begining and so gave me a bit of time to get the body used to it.
Now we hardly do any ladder work at all.

I agree Matt, If I was starting again I would just say there will be a settling time and give them a copy of this.

We have a leaflet we give to our customers, to pass on to theirs, to explain to them why their window cleaner has changed over, why wfp is the way forward and reassure them about the differences they may see at first.

That goes for anyone who wants the leaflet... we all want window cleaners to be safe, wfp to succeed, and customers to be happy :)

Personally I clean each 'new' clean twice... 1st go around cleaning with alot of time spent on the frames esp the top frames ...then go back around and clean the whole house in 'normal time.
