Hi Vince

I'd think it best not to mix any chemicals especially not bleach and bog cleaner.

I was a health and safety officer when I worked on the railways and under the COSH laws (care of substances hazardous to health) which included cleaning products was a very very strict rule NOT to mix anything or even clean with one product and then later clean with another.

Cheers

Ross

bleach and caustic soda in a hot water solution is great for cleaning the drive.....sugar and weedkiller makes a great little bomb, and petrol, polystyrene and iron filings makes great crude napalm.....hope this helps...lol..

sugar and weedkiller makes a great little bomb

Not exactly true.  You first require a fertiliser (not weed killer) with a high amonium nitrate content (not available in Northern Ireland).  Anything above 15% is good stuff.

You then have to boil it and let it cool.  A 'scum' which crytalises around the top is the end result.  You then grind the cystalised scum, the finer the better, in some industrial grinder (or a large comercial coffee grinder) and mix it with both sugar and diesal (in certain amounts obviously).

The net result is a low grade explosive called ANFO, (Amonium Nitrate Fuel Oil).

You then require a detonator (easilyishly made) and some sort of switch and battery!

Works great in an under vehicle booby trap!  The low grade explosive produces an extremely effective 'ripple effect', rather than a purely 'directional' military explosive based bomb!

However:

As  young soldier a friend of mine mixed mixed a bleach and toilet cleaner while cleaning the toilet floor.  It was awful.  It fizzed and produced extremely noxious fumes that I believe is clorine (used in World War 1 as a chemical attack agent).

Made our eyes water, hurt our airways and we had to sluice the place out with a fire hose in the end.

Why do you want to mix chemicals in the first place?

Any Ulster lads (or Occupied Six County lads) available as an 'expert' to sort this one out?

What's better amonium nitrate, or sodium sulphate/clorate?

Regards.

Tosh.

I know, Mate, just a bit of fun.  No offence either towards the North of Ireland lot either!  I think the Irish are great whatever their politics!  A bit like Geordies; full of fun!

This forum is so useful. Even advice for a window cleaner's turf war. A 1000 lts. would make a hell of a splash.

when i was about 14 i used to get a jam jar or big coffee jar and quickly fill it with every cleaning liquid and powder i could find  from under the sink , & then put the lid on , shake the jar and leg it!! it used to fire up about 10/12 foot!(some times i had to whack the jar with a broomstick first ;, whilst sheilding my eyes!) ; ;D

To drag this back onto the topic.
Vgcwcs, what do you need to know this for?

A little more info would be useful, the replies you get may then not get MI5 monitoring the forum for potential terrorist activists :o

We really could do with an 'Off Topic' area, as interesting as it may be, I don't see much in this that is window cleaning related :-\
