I have for the last 25 odd years been using HWE but I am now getting too old and I am thinking about going with Dry Fusion instead.
Most of my clients are domestic but I do have commercial as well, these are either Lap Dancing Clubs ::) or Night Clubs and Resturants as well as a few Nursing Homes and offices.
What are the positives and negatives I can expect to come across.
-
The positive,
cleaning the lap dancing clubs,
The negatives ,
cleaning the nursing homes ;) ;D
Seriously, I would have thought you would need to keep your options open , horses for course and not just stick to one , but no doubt some fusioneers will disagree.

I used to think that HWE was everything but now am more in favour of the horses for courses approach. Sometimes HWE sometimes rotary. One thing I do think is that neither is suitable for use in every case.

Hi Ian. Hope enjoyed your visit to Edinburgh on Sunday.
Was good to meet you and your good lady. Sorry about all the hills, hope Bernadette was OK.
Cheers fir the beers. Yum Yum. ;)

I love my "Little Red Fire Engine". Dry Fusion earns me loads of cash and does a great job. Even jobs you think wouldn't be possible this side of a good rinse/extraction set up.
There are limits however. The system is designed to clean between 10 and 20 sqM per pad. In a residential environment, after moving furniture to the middle of the room or wherever, it's not unusual to find that you are cleaning an area of, lets say, 3 sqM. This will mean that you are, relatively speaking, overwetting the the carpet so you loose the 30 minute drying advantage, and you product cost can therefore go through the roof. The same applies to other LM systems too.
I know what you mean by getting older and the stamina issues, so have you though about working smarter rather than harder?
Safe and happy cleaning :)

Smarter rather than harder?
Can you give examples Ken?

Both Dry Fusion & HWE have a place in the carpet cleaning sector. Dry fusion would b ideal for alot of domestic work, low profile carpet tiles, hotel corridor & so on. I have cleaned more night clubs than most on these forums & would not use anything other than HWE in that situation the same applies for nursing homes. Both require DEEP cleaning & only HWE can give this. My advice to you is to keep the HWE system & buy the Dry Fusion system. You should find that you will be able to complete many jobs with the DF making life easier but as ive said....Night clubs, nursing homes will require HWE.

There's also the Craftex Thermadry ................no idea how good it is.
-
both methods work fantastic if used together, i do all my commercial work as hwe followed by a good bonnetting. getting a lot more work quoting the 2 together.

I dont think in terms of hwe verses d/f , they are both good systems in their place.
If you can have both on hand to choose from. Some may dis df but I have had this system from day one when Brian Philbin was with Shaun and wouldnt be without it ,and customers love it. You would be suprised at the results from it.
Having said that I dont think its the ideal system for nightclubs unless they are done on a regular basis, but put it in the office type envioronment and it cant be beaten.
With the new pure fusion its halved the product cost aswell.
I'm sure guys who use other lm systems could give their views on them .

I agree 100% with Richie. The licensed/club/restaurant sector needs rinse/extraction as a front line system, and preferably a truckmount if you are serious about it. LM systems can be used occasionally for periodic cleans in some cases though.
Mike, as for working smarter rather than harder, this takes many different paths and can be different for each of us. Some of the things that I, and many others have done are: mechanical agitation, suites in the morning only, maximum of two jobs a day, maybe three if minimum charge, don't travel from one side of town to the other keeping the days work in one area, if you have to work weekends, make sure you have time off in the week to compensate etc. etc. etc. There's lots of little things you can do that will make a big difference to your day.
Safe and happy cleaning :)

First off I would like to apologise to Clinton, I was talking through my a*se. As an explanation I had been up all night with my young son who was ill and I was in a crap mood and looking for someone to pick on basically. This in no way condones what I posted and I hope Clinton who seems like a nice guy can accept my apology.

I'm sure no-one on hear will take offence at what I see as being fairly mild abuse. I found it quite amusing! Hope your youngster is on the mend Ryan and that a good nights sleep are ahead. It takes a genuine guy to apologise.
