Title: Whats your tds and water pressure from the mains?
Post by: pingu on May 06, 2009, 03:05:24 pm: I am trying to put together a database of TDS and water pressure ( from tap) from members here...so I can post it in the documents section...I have tried a little earlier and it did not take...could because I had in a post that was not that clear.

So could you help out...?

Just reply back with your town/county, TDS and water pressure (if you are able).

Do you mean water pressure from water mains or after booster pump?

I don't know how useful this database will be as I have moved less than 1km from my old house and there is a 12psi difference and my TDS is 150 higher!

Tap TDS hovers around 200.
Pressure from mains unknown as the RO is not on my property so I can't really check it. The RO is fed from a standpipe that is linked to the mains via a property 100 yards away. Therefore, the pressure by the time it gets to my RO only hovers around 35 - 40 PSI. Although a Merlin is meant to have a minimum of 40 PSI, it manages to produce 30 - 40 litres per hour (depending on time of year) with the waste partially restricted for logistical reasons. As a sole trader, I find that sufficient. Before I restricted the waste, the Merlin gave around 006. After it's more like 016 once it settles down.

Pressure rock steady 80 psi unless daughter taking a shower and washing machine on in which case about 70 psi!

Sorry ccmids...I really have no clue why tds varies...I can get between 260 and 320...depending...could be weather i.e rainfalls but your guess is as good as mine...

Anyone know why we can have varied tds readings?

Post by: luther1 on May 23, 2009, 07:38:22 pm: Varied tap tds readings are because your local water supplier draws their water from various sources( reservoirs,holding tanks etc) so readings can change daily due to different extraction plants! If the same question had your life depending on it,then don't quote me please!
