Title: Do you clean windows whilst people are getting ready for school/work?
Post by: geefree on May 06, 2009, 12:26:04 am
I tend to start after 9am when they have all left, i dont really think people would apreciate me splashing water all over when they are in a rush to get out ....

am i too sensitive?

commercial work is different.

never start domestic before 9am unless its oaps i am doing as they are always up at the crack of dawn and i finish domestic at 3pm exactly for the reasons you state and 10.30am on a saturday if im working that day.I personally wouldnt want strange men cleaning my windows when my kids are getting ready for or after school.I guess Wfp would be different as your working from the ground.

I'm the same,
also where I live the traffic is a nightmare especially during the school run, so I either do some commercial early and then start in my domestic area at 9 or leave home shortly after 9 to save myself the grief of the stop/start in traffic jams for 30 mins.
I suppose it really depends on your customers, whether they lead busy lives with young families or if they are older/retired, I find the latter do'nt mind and are up and about early anyhow.

Same here - block someone in with your van and you won't be popular.  :)

General rule of thumb - 9 am start but in some areas I know a custy or two who leave for work at 8 ish and I'll sometimes start with them at 8.15/8.30 - feels good to get the day started earlier.

Gazzap8 ...I tend to start my first job between 09:00 - 09:30...as I think this is reasonable...but here in Holland...it is not unusual for builders to start drilling, hammering on domestic work at 07:30..

I could start earlier but I just don't like to... to be honest I think you may be a little over cautious but hey..only you know your customers.

Cheers
Dave,
