Hey.  Just a bit of my silly humour.  It sounded like you wanted some help to pay a tax bill   :)  .
I really think your best bet is to find an accountant from day one.  You can usually get a service that will meet the needs of basic sole trading for a couple of hundred.  Bear in mind that you need to register your business with the IR in the first three months or you can get a £100 penalty from the taxman.  You would also need to register for self-employed NI contributions.
If you are starting from zero turnover and building the work up by yourself, you should be safe if you put away 15% of your take for tax and NI.  Maybe more than that in subsequent years though as you ought to be earning a larger amount over and above your 6k tax free allowance

so firstly register with tax man ?
then insurance for self employed ?
so you say i can earn 6k without been taxed ?
how much insurance will i pay each month or do i get a bill at the end of the year
this is were i am confused
i know i need to get an accountant but money is tight when your trying it alone

you dont have to register for the first 3 months of bieng self employed, you dont need an accountant until the end of your tax year, and you should pay very little tax first year due to new gear you will be buying to start up.

are you wanting new?

if so , www.gardiners.co.uk

or search "buy and sell" here and def ebay.

you will need public liability insurance, 2 million min i reckon.

around £75 per year.

If you think being your own boss is easy, you will soon learn that being employed is not as bad as you thought.

Tax advice from tax advice seervice get the right info, everyone has there own spin on it, get the correct info and you cant go worng.
self emplyed you submit a tax return, I would go with an accountant , that way it is write,
you do not need an accountant straight waym just keep all records of what you earn pay etc then speak to accountantsm start up year one accountant should be under 100 for the year and submitting your books.

Make sure you have inusrance to work (meaning any house or building)

Good luck, these are just the basic things you need there are loads more.

I am not terying to put you off, but thin king it is easy to run a business is why 1000's of window cleaners stop each year as soon as sun goes back down..

I started this time last year, but i had a bit of money behind me and went wfp straight away, Ive kept every reciept, noted what it was for and filed
them in envolves by months, I registered in the 1st 3 months and get a NI bill for about £40 every 3 months, I havent got a accountant yet as my bill
not due till end of the year, I use a programme called WCP http://www.windowcleanerpro.com/ but as a newbie business george http://www.georgesystems.co.uk/ would be ideal for you as its only £50, my public liability for £1 million was about £75 but ive raised it to £2 million for this year whis is now £90 a year.
