I've been asked to try and remove this mould? mildew? (green colour) from this lampshade, I said I'd take it home and try my best as its a very important new customer whose name shall remain anonymous as I'm not one for name dropping ( CHATSWORTH HOUSE !! CHATSWORTH HOUSE !! THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF DEVONSHIRE !! ;D )
It doesn't look expensive, but it goes with the room so they want to keep it if possible.
Any suggestions for a delicate clean thats not likely to damage it would be greatly appreciated.
Photos are not so hot sorry.
Cheers

looks a bit shady to me Paul ::)

Sorry for the pun Paul
In the past I have cleaned loads of lamp shades some with stains such as the one in the picture with micro splitting agents.
but do watch out for the trim around the bottom as it is only glued on and with too much water they can become unattached.

I cleaned a 40 year old chesterfield sofa with mildew/mould on it a couple of weeks ago and used M-Power on John Kelly's suggestion - came up a treat.

As Steve says a colloidal cleaning agent would probably be best (there are a couple around :))
Be aware that if the mould is long standing there may be fibre damage especially if there are natural materials involved, especially silk. The mould feeds on the proteins.

I'll second that, Mpower will cure that problem easily. Literally 10 min's.
I'd do it free of charge, and tell them that each time they look at it, it will
remind them of me.
And i bet that will stick in their minds.
Just remember clients like this are not stupid, rip them off and they will
never come back.
Treat them fair, and they WILL, stay loyal. They stick with trusted trades people.

So it's got to be a colloidal type rather than a microsplitter such as One Step Fineline, its just I don't have any M - power or similar and can't justify buying a tub for this freebie job.

ask for a sample ;)

Don't think you'll get a sample, and £72 is a bit steep for a one off.
Surely there is a cleaner near you who could give you some, 12ml is enough for
a 1.5 Litre spray bottle.
If you were close to me i would let you have some. I only really use it for curtains now.
-
Can any of you suppliers offer me a thimble of this stuff ? I would be eternally greatful.
Thanks Paul

Speak to John Kelly at Restormate - he sells Nemesis which is basically the same as M-Power, I think I'm right in saying it is available in a 1 litre bottle.

you also need to dry the shade as fast as possibleto stop any rust marks coming through.
air mover and heat

I've got some 120ml sample bottles I can stick one in a Jiffy bag and send you some M-Power in if you get no joy elsewhere.

Thanks for all the offers of help guys much appreciated.
Big thanks to JK who's sending me a sample bottle over.
