Hi Guys, I popped down the WCW last week and they had a box of Vikan Brush heads with 4 jets on them, I was temtped to try but though id ask if anyone has tried them before i part with my £30!??? If so, is there a noticeable drop in pressure across the jets??
Any feedback appreciated, I will prob end up getting one anyway as Im due a new toy! :D

i,ve got a 4 jet vikan also gardiners superlight and abentley all 4 jet imo it gives a much better spread of water and no difference in pressure regards alan

How about water usage? Do you use more water?

if its got 4 x2 mm jets and a normal one has 2 x 2mm jets you will use twice as much water ( SIMPLES ) lol

I tend to agree with Craig b. surely it's the pump output that will govern the amount of water used. Eg., if the pump is producing a flow of 2 litres a minute the flow through the 2 jets will be greater than the same flow with 4 jets IMO.

As I thought I would, I gave in and bought one anyway. Getting a much better run off than before which is good and should save time.
Had a quick blast and i dont seem to be losing any pressure. Havnt had enough usage to see how much more water it will use.

regarding water usuage, i know the obvious answer is twice as much water.
but i use normal 2 jet brush and up'd flow rate to increase speed over windows, found i didn't really use that much more water, i think same answer for the above.
maybe alex gardiner could clear this up for us :-\

A 4 jet brush will use twice as much water as a 2 jet brush, as has been said. However, actual water usage may not double due to reduction of time spent rinsing. The reason the pressure from the brush head seems the same is that the delivery pumps can easily cope with 2 extra jets.

If a brush is fitted with 4 jets and the water flow is left untouched, the waterflow will increase if swapping from microbore to minibore on the same settings. Decrease the hose to microbore, then increase the flow to match. Pressure from 4 jets is less than 2 jets so you need to turn waterflow up to compensate for the difference. Uses less water for rinsing as all the glass is washed evenly with less scrubbing movements than using 2 jets. Better with 4 jets but you need the waterflow higher and need to move a lot quicker than with 2 jets to take advantage of the extra jets.

A simple solution is to use 4 x1mm jets, I think Jeff Brimble has a set up like this.

Yep I do use a 4 jet and also an 8 jet for the 19" brush

I think Jeff buys his from B&Q. micro automatic watering jets, they are colour coded for different sizes.
I haven't found any yet so still make my own on the lathe.
You only have to thread a piece of Algarde 6mm hose through a 5mm hole, and stick the jet into the end.
Jets on stalks work very well as you don't have to remove any bristles, the bristles actually keep the jets in place, and the jets are level with the top of the bristles, so water doesn't have to fight it's way through them.

I agree with what has already been said, twice as much water is coming through the jets, but as I am rinsing quicker and getting a nicer run off I am working quicker so I am not using too much more water overall.
Definately worth the extra tenner :)
