Title: So....when do you need to wear a hi-vis jacket? Or a hardhat?

I'm unsure whether to use these on commercial work, what is the regulation on this?

Hardhats of course on building sites, but also when working at x feet? And when should one wear a hi-vis jacket?

If you are near traffic or plant or main road id always wear hi vis all time

I work in 3 new estates that are also currently being built and i have to work around the building works..

Although im not "on site" im still in the area - so i always wear a hi viz - its appreciated by the site staff too!

I always wear a hi viz when doing any commercial - shop fronts etc whatever..

I wear a hi-viz vest most times, even on domestic work. I do this cos it helps me be seen and might attract more attention from anyone wanting a window cleaner.

edited: i dunno about the law either but i think it just makes me look more H&S aware.

If not sure wear the gear then you can't be wrong. If working on commercial sites then ask them what their requirements are (they should tell you anyway before you start work) As for non commercial sites use your common sense, are you easily seen ? might you hit your head somewhere? ask yourself that sort of question  :)

You can search the HSE website, but each commercial site should have their own regulations and then you build that into your own.

on part of my work i ladder out of the road cause theres no pavement so bucket behind ladder and i put hi vis stickers on side of the ladder  :D
