Title: Thinking of a D.I.Y trolley wfp system-advice appreciated
Post by: Craig 72 on April 29, 2009, 07:50:52 pm
Evening all.Could somebody give me a little advice on how to set up a trolley system for wfp.I got a backpack a month or so ago and although I find it very good I would like a system that carries more water.I've got a trolley which I can make amendments to,to take the water container. So,please correct me if I'm wrong,I need a pump and a battery,is that right?I've been reading about a varistream controller,is that necessary as well?At the mo I'm only using a 20 ft pole but I'm endeavouring to get my mitts of a 40 footer. If anybody could recommend the right pump etc I would need I'd be obliged.Apologies if I appear a bit clueless,I'm fairly new to this and I'm learning all the time.

hi

backpack i tried a demo, they are in my opinion a waste of time.
I use pure freedom trolley.
been very good, with decent aftersales!

make sure you buy a better pole than std issue with the trolley package.

I've got a trolley/sack barrow type thing I've had for a few years. With a few welding amendments I'm hoping it will be ideal.Just not sure exactly about what pump and battery would suit.

I made a trolley using a ready made pump box from Wintecs. About £120 I think.
It doesn't have any form of flow control though. It is a 40psi shurflo pump which I found ok to use.
I now use the pump mounted on a board with a valve on the inlet side to control the flow. Works really well, with no pump stutter.

here's a handy little pump
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Marine-Automatic-Water-Pump-12v-2-6L-min-MiniPump-35psi_W0QQitemZ380056987818QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM?hash=item380056987818&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1121|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A2|240%3A1318

And here's a cheap controller.

I don't think you can get started cheaper than that. Dai
