Title: Mineral deposits
Post by: ftp on April 25, 2009, 10:50:08 am
How long do you reckon it takes for them to form?
Say you hose the windows with a garden hose, do you think the damage is done the minute they dry or hours or weeks later?

What i'm getting at is this: I plan to clean outsides of gutters and soffits with a pressure washer. I live in a hard water area prone to high limescale deposits. I don't want to splatter the glass only to have it dry and stain before i've had a chance to wfp it.

They form quite quickly I believe,.. but one quick splash shouldn't give any deposits too bad for WFP to remove.

FTP

I am currently pressure washing the roof on a store at Cobham, the van was directly underneath where I needed to work, alongside a cherry picker.

I started to wash the area down on Thursday - after finishing and the van was covered in algae, moss, crap etc - pressure washed the van and trailer off and then rinsed off the surrounding area.

Hey presto - Friday morning limescale deposits all over the windscreen!!!

They were probably there Thursday afternoon, as soon as it dried.

The job spec is to clean the roof all around the store, all walls to 3.5metres, all guttering, all lamppost heads, trolley bays, walls, kerb edges, service yard, compactor area, footpaths and on and on.

I estimate the roof will take 2 to 3 weeks!!

Dave, I've been pressure washing gutters for 3 years now. I clean the windows within 1/2 hour of starting. Never had problem with stains.

It was about 25 degrees on Thursday and the van had had standard tap water dry on it. If you allow it to dry in sunlight there will always be marks left!!

From what I saw of Cobham - went to the bank to put some cheques in, there are only two supermarkets in the area, it is not the one on the high street. It is the one that has Jamie oliver promoting their goods!!

Yes

I did hear that house prices have soared since Chelsea moved their training ground over that way. There are also a large amount of Range Rover Sports with very glamorous, well dressed young ladies driving about.

I believe that more than one of the team members has been seen since the project began.
